This is why I have cooled considerably in my estimation of Kubiak as head coach. He is loyal to a fault with players best described as mediocre at best. His conservatism then bleeds over to how he lets Richard Smith design his defensive game plans. Yes, A Manning will eventually sting you with a long one. It is also true that he can be had if you put a good stiff rush on him. What would be best is to use different looks (conservative vs blitz) at certain strategic times, and sometimes just to upset the oppositions timing. Mess them up. Just do something different!
