Case by case basis.
Rule of thumb (or my wild a$$ guesses)
1st & 2nd rders. 2-3 years sounds about right.
3rd & 4th rders - 1-2 years.
4th+ from when they get to play - 1 year

Not saying I agree with that, just what I have seen thru the years with just about all franchises.
