Slightly less brutal, but I see 9-7 again.

Looks like a "challenging" schedule. I like it. Bet the Texans get at least two prime time games in 2010.....

We need a Sunday nighter!!! I missed going to this year's Monday Night game because of work ... Also, this year was a fluke year in the AFC and we missed our chance to go to the playoffs. We can potentially miss the playoffs again even if we take another step forward next year by winning 10 games. We REALLY need to split our division games next year. If we can beat a division opponent twice then that would be a plus.

Less brutal than what. This year was a cakewalk compared to next year. If we make the playoffs next year Kubiak will have earned an extension.

There is roughly a 50% turnover in playoff teams in the NFL year after year. You never know what can happen from one year to the next. IMO, it is way too early to get excited, or even speculate as to what is going to happen, especially this year when the big boys might be able to buy thier way to the promise land.

Just based on this years results, which again, mean squat:

Home:
Indianapolis - 14-2
Jacksonville - 7-9
Tennessee - 8-8
Kansas City - 4-12
San Diego - 13-3
Dallas - 11-5
N.Y. Giants - 8-8
Baltimore - 9-7

Away:
Indianapolis - 14-2
Jacksonville - 7-9
Tennessee - 8-8
Denver - 8-8
Oakland - 5-11
Philadelphia - 11-5
Washington - 4-12
N.Y. Jets - 9-7

Fear no one, respect everyone. As we have seen, we are getting built the right way. A couple of balls bounce our way, we punch it in from the freaking 1, our kick doesn't get the damn shanks, and the above are looking at this very same schedule thinking....damn, that it brutal.

ANY GIVEN SUNDAY!

You've got to beat the best to be the best. I highly doubt teams like the Colts and Pats, etc. worry about who's on their schedule. No one should intimidate these guys at this point. If the they can stop beating themselves with mistakes (fumbles, pick-6's, etc.) and have an above average success rate at executing in tight situations, they can play with anyone in the league and win. They're that close.

So, I'm projecting the same overall record, but this time getting in as the WildCard. Sweeping Jacksonville and winning at home within our division. I have us splitting 4-4 on the road. I know it's early, but I love projections.

Ok, I like crazy projections as well. Be nice to see trades, FA's, draft, preseason, but here goes just for fun. And somehow we will get to 11-5 finally, maybe, finishing strong again.

http://espn.go.com/blog/nflnation/po...s-not-so-tough

ESPN is reporting that based on opponent's win-loss percentage, the Texans actually have the toughest schedule in the league next year. Looks like it may be two years before that first playoff game...

Come on man....it's the offseason, not the regular season. That kind of attitude shouldn't show up around here until Octoberish......

This is clearly a tougher schedule than 2009, but on the upside we should and really must improve on our dismal division record from this year. Who knows, maybe that's the big surprise next year when we go something like 4-2or even 5-1 in the division instead of 1-5 ?
For example, why can't we beat the Colts while the Titans and Jags have atleast limited success in that area ? If I was McNair/Kubiak I'd commission a committee to just study that subject over the offseason.

I think it could be a blessing in disguise. The Texans were only really outplayed in one game this year (the opener which was the worst thing they could do for their playoff chances as it turns out) but I think the Jets took everyone by surprise for the first three weeks or so. I don't see the Texans being over matched (we'll see how the off season pans out) and it will force them to sink or swim meaning they will have to find a way to win close games or find themselves sitting at home again next January.

Yeah, I keep seeing the division record record being brought up in criticisms of this year's team and rightfully so. No doubt, they need to do better in the division. Howevah.....

The Texans went 1-5 in the division with every one of those games decided by one score or less. Outside of the division, they were 4-1 in games decided by one score or less for an overall record of 5-6 in "close ones".

The Jags had a 3-3 record in the division yet finished 7-9 overall. The Texans went 1-5 in the division but finished 9-7 overall. While more division wins would have been nice, I'll take the 9-7 any day thankyouverymuch.....

With a 1-5 division record and going 9-7 for the season you won't see the playoffs very often if at all. It just isn't good enough. IMHO Kubiak hasn't been good enough. His record is mediocre but Houston celebrates like getting to 9-7 in 4 years is the superbowl. Other coaches get fired for the same type of non production. This isn't the 70's where time is on your side to build slowly and methodically. Todays NFL is fast paced and teams turn around quickly with a good coach that can gameplan and evalute talent. Sean Peyton is just 1 of many that have done it. Go ahead and bring up 2-14. At some point you have to let go of the loser mentality and hold this team to a higher standard at the beginning and the end of the season.

I'm happy that the Texans went 9-7 and got there first winning season. But I expect more out of this team.

Wow, like that hyperbole, dontcha?

Loser mentality? LOL. Is it a loser mentality to prefer 9-7 over 7-9?

If you read the whole post, you would've seen me mention they need to improve in the division. But the division is not all that. If they would have went 0-6 in the division and went 10-0 outside the division, they'd be in the playoffs. If they had won just one more game, they would be in the playoffs - doesn't matter where the W comes from....

I don't "demand" anything from this team. I don't control anything they do. I watch for entertainment purposes only. If they play like knuckleheads that's their problem. If they lose, I don't hold my breath and turn blue or get pissed. It does no good. But I don't disparage anybody that does. If you want to get on an internet forum and rant against a team that done "done ya wrong", then have at it. If it keeps ya from kicking your dog or slapping your kid, be my guest...
