Well, it is quite the undertaking to project who will be considered as top draft picks in next years draft this early. Also, since we don't know which underclassmen will be declaring, that makes this even more difficult. Then there is trying to determine team needs and any coaching changes. Therefore, I'm just going to give you my preliminary My Guys draft board. I'll let the college season play out before getting too serious about this. This includes underclassmen that I expect will be coming out in this draft.

Next years draft is STOCKED with big time safeties: Carter, Mccray, Jones, Chancelor Berry, Mays just to name a few...excited already!!

You know with the improvement in the LB's, we may get better play out of our existing safeties. And with our winning record this year (it says here), we won't be in any position to draft any of the really big time safeties.

With Malcolm Jenkins gone, the Texans weren't in position to take a top-tier safety in the 2009 NFL Draft. With that in mind, they may look for one in the 2010 NFL Draft, where there could be four safeties chosen in the first round (Eric Berry, Taylor Mays, Reshad Jones, Earl Thomas).


#52 Mike Johnson, G, Alabama
The Texans don't have many needs, but one area that they'll need to address soon is the interior of their offensive line.


84 Ekom Udofia, DT, Stanford
The Texans really could use a nose tackle next to Amobi Okoye to help out against the run.

Not sure I would complain right now about this group. FS is a position us blogger's think the team needs to upgrade, adding another SEC O' lineman is never a bad idea, and a 322 lbs NT appears on paper to be a big need.

Yeah, the LBs and Ss didn't look so great, huh?

I just hope that Weatherspoon is still on the board when we pick. Taylor Mays is a top 5 guy like Sean Taylor.

what about the other safety I've heard a lot about Berry? at Tennessee?

IMO worth a trade up. I think he is better than Mays, more physical. Monte Kiffen is raving about him as one of the best ever. Should be a top 10 pick, and worth it.
