I know it's been a few days since he passed, but I figured I'd post this. Carlin was always one of my favorites. Check out the other videos as well. I'm sure you'll get a good laugh or two.

Watched a lot of his old stuff on HBO2 since he passed. Talk about a time warp.

Carlin's comedy made him come off as a grumpy old man at times, but he had influence on many comedians.

btw, he rocked on the narration for the older Thomas the Tank Engine shows.

By far my favorite comedian and a considerable influence on my post-adolescent thought process. "Back in Town" is far and away my favorite special of his, although most of his run from the early 90's on is good stuff (with the exception of "Complaints and Grievances" which was due to be filmed a few days after 9/11, so he ditched most of his act and started from scratch.) "Doin' it Again", "Back in Town", and "You are All Diseased" are all top-notch, must-sees.

carlin was laugh-out-loud funny even when i was by myself...

...except on that ONE dvd that i bought where he looked old, fat, and out of comedic practice. actually, i think it was "complaints and greivances" like dadmg said....

i heard that he wrote down all of his thoughts. he always came across as a pretty quick-witted guy so writing down that much material must have been a burden. anyway RIP george carlin. say hi to richard for us!!

NBC ran the original first episode of SNL (original titled simply, "NBC's Saturday Night"). Carlin hosted and they had him on delay as they were TERRIFIED he'd say one of "The 7 words...". He worked clean and did the fabulous "Baseball vs Football" bit. George Carlin was always funny, but he was 10 times funnier if you were watching him rather than just listening. His expressions really amped up the laugh factor.

Couple things about that first episode of SNL; the very first sketch, the cold opening, was the "Language Lesson" sketch where Belushi plays the random Eastern European repeating english phrases such as "I vould like...to feed your figerteeps...the de volverines!" Classic. Also, announcer Don Pardo (who is now 90 and has been there from day 1) blew the opening by refering to the cast as the "Not For Ready Prime-Time Players!"

Good stuff...til the f-ing Muppets show up.
