Default Roosevelt Colvin signs

We now have our designated passrusher opposite Mario. This means Kubiak will let him rest his 30+ year old body until we really need him on 3rd and long. I am amazed that the Colts didn't make more of a run on him, since Indy is his hometown. I think they are too far over in their cap. Colvin's grandparents live here in Houston so his family can stay with them until they find their own place.
This gives us our best pass rush possibility ever, IMO. Manning is probably grimacing about right now. We will no longer be the pushover for Indy that we have been in the past, plus our running game IS going to get better. Man I am stoked. Hoorah!

My goodness, I thought this thread would get a few posters. To me this signing pretty well clears up the question of why we didn't go after a DE in the Draft. I also think we have a potentially pretty good DL now, both against the run and the pass. Come on people, give me some reaction?

See this thread for more reaction.

In his last three games vs. the Colts, he's had 3.5 sacks. Rick Smith is two-for-two when recruiting Colvin -- he got him to sign with Purdue in 1995, and now with the Texans in 2008.

If his foot is healed and we keep him relatively fresh, he could be the key that really starts the defense taking off and becoming a dominant unit. I like the possibilities that this signing brings.

I just reread my post after thinking how wrong you can be in thinking a signing is for the ultimate good. Now that Colvin underperformed, to say the least in TC, and was summarily cut, I wonder if he hasn't been on the slippery slope toward being an ex NFLer, and we just didn't see it. Oh well, now I'm back to wondering where oh where the passrush went?
