It requires another ruling which I assume that Comcast can then appeal in district court, but it is a step in the right direction An interesting side story to watch is Arlen Specter's (Senator PA) conduct in the near future. Every time that the NFL moves against Comcast, Specter moves against them, calling for investigations and the such. Considering the taxes Comcast pays to PA, is there a connection? Concidence, maybe maybe not... |

The NFL can kick and scream all they want. I'd prefer they make the NFL Season Pass available to cable too. NBA and MLB do. I don't really have to much sympathy on this fight.

the way I saw it, the sports package is worth every penny. you get CSTV, like 3 other FSN's, goltv, and the fox soccer channel. I emphatically agree with whoever said they'd like to see the ticket on cable. i know at least 8 people that would happily pony up the money individually.

That won't happen for a while, Direct TV has a contract through the 2010 season.

If I read the AP story correctly, the FCC says Comcast should carry the NFL Network on their digital lineup, not a special extra-charge sports package. The irony is that Time Warner for years has tried to get the NFL Network to agree to be carried on the digital level and they refuse - demanding to be carried on the basic level. So the NFL goes to the FCC to force Comcast to carry them on a level at which they refuse to let Time Warner carry them.
IMO, the digital lineup is exactly where they ought to have been the whole time. If ESPN Classic (as much a niche channel as NFL Network) is paid for by all digital subscribers, why is the NFL Network any different? |

I agree that their definitions of local markets is screwed up, and the more NFL games the better....but there is absolutely no reason for the US government to be spending any amount of time on how much NFL football we get to watch.
