Default Jacoby Jones Hires New Agent

Per Adam Schefter's tweet:
https://twitter.com/Adam_Schefter/status/21952882619

Quote:
Anytime a player hires a new agent, he usually wants a new deal. Texans WR Jacoby Jones hired Kennard McGuire, Andre Johnson's agent.
Jones is in the final year of his rookie contract. Recall that Kevin Walter just signed 5-yr, $21.5 million contract earlier this year.

Well he did have 6 TDs last year as opposed to Walter's 2 TDs. And he's a solid contributer in special teams as well... Im guessing he's gonna want #2 receiver type of money. Maybe even more than Walter's contract.

With more talent & versatility and 3 years younger than Walter, IMO it's a no-brainer to pay him a better deal than Walters.

Jacoby, IMO, has always had Randy Moss-like skills - see his TD catch in slo-mo against New England last year in the current Texans season tickets commercial. It's a thing of beauty. The problem has always been between the ears though he has been showing signs of maturing... He's one of the guys I hope doesn't make the "should've used him more" list...

I for one hope they keep this kid around if for the simple fact that his interviews absolutely crack me up.

He's got some skills too...

I suspect that they will try to keep him around. The question will be, does he show enough this year to be graded out as a 2nd or as a 3rd wide out. If he grades out as a 2nd he will probably accept that level of contract, but if the team grades him as a 3rd WR, he will likely not accept that level of contract and move on.

I hope he doesn't start pushing for another deal before most of this season is through. Jacoby showed a lot last year, but I would kind of hope the team would wait at least through this year before commiting anything to him semi-long term. If he's just preparing to push for a raise at the end of the year, that's cool, and probably makes a lot of sense if he contributes again this year like he did last year...but if he tries to pull an Andre and get more money right NOW just because he thinks he deserves it RIGHT NOW...then I think he will wind up severely disappointed.

Well he probably hired Andre's agent because he wants a deal done before this season is over also. No one knows if there will be football next year and theres no telling if the new CBA will affect his possible earnings.

Jacoby is going to be a big part of the offense this year. If he can continue to make some plays, then that should allow Andre some extra space. Seems as though Jacoby has started to mature. I hope he keeps his head on straight.
