By JOHN McCLAIN
The Texans have agreed to contract terms with receiver Dorin Dickerson, their seventh-round pick from the University of Pittsburgh.

....

You can click the link for the full article, but I posted the full article. McClain most be going through carpal tunnel with as many and as lengthy articles he's been doing since Father's Day.

Eheh, well, I think McClain is on vacation, right now so he's not really doing too much. I believe once TC starts, he's gotta go 7 days/wk for about 6 months straight....

At Chron.com, they will sometimes post breaking news and then add to it as they get more of the story...

Things are going to pick up soon enough..... Just 15 1/2 days till training camp - but who's counting?

He's "expanded" his work:

http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/...t/7107619.html

With 15 days remaining until training camp begins July 30, the Texans have six of their nine draft choices under contract.

Cornerback Kareem Jackson (first round), running back Ben Tate (second) and tight end Garrett Graham (fourth) are the only unsigned picks.

Receiver Dorin Dickerson, the seventh-round pick, agreed to a four-year deal worth $1.85 million on Wednesday.

Signing earlier were defensive tackle Earl Mitchell (third), outside linebacker Darryl Sharpton (fourth), cornerback Sherrick McManis (fifth), receiver Trindon Holliday (sixth) and guard Shelley Smith (sixth).

I guess his wait was rewarded, he got about the same thing as Holiday.

Yeah, but he's gotta make the final roster to earn that money, doesn't he?

The base, yes. The bonus is already his.

So is the base the full $1.85M or the bonus? Which is which?

That's the full contract value: base + bonus. I don't have the sum of the four base years in front of me, but that amounts to probably $1.79M, leaving the bonus to be something like $71,000.

4 years is a lengthy contract for a 7th round pick, if memory serves. Guess they really do like the kid as much as they say they do.

I think they think he will be the successor to WR Kevin Walter.

Read nothing into that... four years is the standard length now for rookies not picked in the first couple rounds. You'll know the Texans like this kid if they keep him on the final 53.
