Probably my favorite tidbit of this week's transactions...

Ka'Dar Hollman signed with the Saints practice squad. Meaning, the Texans gave the Packers a 2022 7th rounder (via the Bears) in exchange for Hollman being on the preseason roster 8 days. So they've paid ~$3M for a 6th rounder to the Packers (in the Randall Cobb trade) and their 7th rounder only was worth about 8 days.

Also noteworthy, WR Keke Coutee is believed to be signing with the Colts practice squad. Seems to leave just Brandin Cooks, Anthony Miller, Nico Collins, and Chris Conley (plus returner Andre Roberts). That is neither a deep nor particularly healthy group.

Interesting. I see the two rookie Aggie OL guys made the practice squad. No doubt they had some time together....

Official roster can be found here:

https://www.houstontexans.com/team/players-roster/

TEs Jordan Akins, Pharaoh Brown and rookie Brevin Jordan all made the team. Looks like just those three TE at present.

RBs are Rex Burkhead, Mark Ingram II, David Johnson, Phillip Lindsay and Scottie Phillips.

Pretty sure all the draft picks made the team....

-------------------------------------------

Now, what to do about Watson..... Hate to see him rot on the bench... If he's game, they should play him.... If he wants out, then someone needs to get it done.. Tyrod is OK but he's not Watson....

Isn't it obvious they are trying to lose this year? They have no chance and Watson will make no difference from a playoff perspective. But if he played he could make a difference between the 1st and 5th draft pick. Don't let him near the field. Go ahead and pay the price for letting GM BOB run the team into the ground and hope you can be good in 2023.

I think Caserio is trying to build a team in his vision. Not good to teach them how to lose.

As to Watson, I don't keep up with his status. He probably has penalty time coming due from the NFL. I can concede it might be a good idea for him to sit out a year just because. People softened on Ray Rice somewhat over time. I'd rather the Texans gets some value now and he sit on someone else's bench for a bit but he might be stuck on the Texans bench this year.....

I would generally agree that teaching a team to lose is bad. I hate that approach.

But our roster is filled with guys on one year deals. Almost none of these guys will be here in a year whether they learned good or bad habits. We have 28 guys with a contract that doesn't end this year, and of those guys, like 25 can be cut with little penalty. This roster is completely gutted and I doubt anyone but the draft picks and Tunsil are on the roster in 2 years. I have the same doubt that this coaching staff is here in 2 years. We hired a 66 year old head coach to oversee a losing team. My guess is a new coach is hired to coach new players when we draft our new QB in 2022 or 2023.

And Watson is gone now or later. I don't care which.
