That was sweet, a game that Texans' fans didn't have to sweat too much while enjoying a solid performance by our franchise QB and a powerhouse effort by the D, except for a couple lapses where we gave up some long TDs. No matter what happens the rest of this year, the top priority for the upcoming offseason is to get some offensive tackles who can pass block.
So how good are the Texans ? Pretty damn good I think. |

Early line has the Texans as a 6 pt. favorite over the Browns this Sunday. If there was a trap game left on the Texans schedule, this would be it with Indy come in the very next week....... Browns are a young team learning how to win and should not be taken lightly....
-------------------------------------------------- Five Thirty Eight always has an interesting forecast. For the Texans: 96% chance to make the playoffs 85% chance to win the division 29% chance to get a 1st round bye 3% chance to win the Super Bowl -------------------------------------------------- Texans are 8th in the ESPN Power Rankings. Lowest rated 8-3 team (of course!). -------------------------------------------------- Will be interesting to see how OB handles the rest of the season. If things go as expected, the Texans will make the playoffs. Does he try to win 'em all to have a shot at the 1st round bye? Who does he sit and start to get ready for the playoffs? When things get locked up, does he "forfeit" W's all in the name of staying healthy for the playoffs? |

I don't disagree with the 8th place ranking. But if you name the top 8 teams...
Saints, Rams, Chiefs, Patriots, Chargers, Bears, Steelers, Texans Then you notice some things. I think you can take Brees, Brady, Rivers, and Rothleisberger and you probably have the top 4 of the top 5 veteran QBs, all HOFers (I'm not a Rivers fan but he's a lock). These 4 teams build their roster with high dollar, high floor QB play. You could throw Cam and Wilson in this mix as QBs of the 10th and 12th ranked teams. Rodgers is the only high dollar, proven talent not leading a playoff team. Then you have Goff, Mahomes, Trubisky, and Watson. These 4 teams have cheap rookie deal QBs with money spent elsewhere in FA to build a team that allows a young QB to succeed. If you are an NFL team and you aren't paying for truly elite QB play, then you better not be paying for QB play at all. Paying for an unproven QB is the quickest way to ruin a team in the modern NFL. |
