Texans open the 2nd half with a drive that burns 6:07 off the clock culminating in a Fairbairn 47-yard FG. Too many penalties to sustain the drive...
Texans 27, Titans 10 8:53 left in the 3rd qtr. |

Marriota is truly awful. Tonight he played the best he is capable of playing football, the team committed no turnovers until the last minute of garbage time, they ran for 4.5 ypc, and they only started one drive inside the 18 yard line and that was the garbage time drive to end the game. So what do they get for all of that? 17 points. His best game as a pro and he checked down into 18 points. He holds the ball as long as all of the running QBs but without the big plays that sometimes come from holding the ball.
Last offseason the Jags looked at a superbowl defense and decided it should be partnered with a terrible QB with a high priced extension. They reasoned that if you put the two together you could win more than half of your low scoring football games. If they had just punted Bortles and signed Fitzpatrick or whichever McCown still plays they are probably leading the division. This offseason the Titans front office will face a near identical choice with Marriota and as a Texans fan I hope they talk themselves into how 'close' they are with their defense. It's just too bad the Colts fell into Andrew Luck or we'd be division champs for the rest of Watson's career. |
