I don't know who's going to be available in the 3rd round at this moment. For all I know, my top 32 could all be taken in the 1st round. I am going to expand the list after the Shrine and Senior Bowl. Then really start to formulate the board after the Combine. I am not going to be surprised if I have players ranked #52-#53-#54 & have #54 go in the 2nd, #53 in the 3rd & #52 last until the 5th round. One man's trash is another GM's treasure.

I don' think he works it that way.
Actually I never quite figured out what his system is but for example he might have a 3rd or 4h round prospect on his list right next to the #2 overall pick in the Draft.

Therefore, players at need positions go higher and players at positions the Texans and Colts have well-stocked, will be pushed lower. It's designed so that when one or the other is on the clock, he can check his list and grab the next available player.

That's a pretty good assessment, Bob. I look at the draft as braided ropes. At the top of the draft, there is a lot of consensus as to who the top 5-10 players are going to be. Then the ropes begin to unravel and go into all sorts of unexpected directions. For example, the Buccaneers will trade up in the 2nd round and draft a Kicker. Or the Raiders will draft some CB nobody else has seen who runs a 4.32. So, I attempt to trust my eyes, know my needs, and game plan for who might be available the next time I get to select. The draft is an inexact science. One guru will fall in love with Christian Ponder, Kevin White, Cam Robinson, or Vernon Ghoulston and then others will follow the hype. Then there are players who I like that get drafted late, like Dak Prescott or David Johnson and I wonder why I didn't put them higher based on successful college careers and measurables. Would I look smarter taking them in the 2nd round, or do I look misguided if I could have drafted them in the 3rd? So, it's a mixture of attempting to maximize each round by guessing who is being overdrafted.
