I don't want Watson because he lacks the arm strength to be successful. I would be OK with Mahomes if BOB really likes him (which I doubt VERY seriously) but not trading up for him. Basically, I'm fine with what we have plus a rookie, and if the rookie can be had in the second or third, so much the better. As I've said, I expect the team to draft someone at 25 who can play right away.

The Texans are in a purgatory where if there is ever a very capable quarterback or two they are unlikely to be able to draft him. Obviously every so often they find themselves with a high pick, sometimes THE high pick, and with the way the world works it's never a draft where you might use it for a quarterback. Otherwise, the team is generally too good to be in a position to take someone at the top of the draft. They will have to get lucky or best the other teams in their talent evaluations (ok, get lucky) in order to draft someone who is better than Savage.

I have no idea how good Savage is. None of us does. I like what I've seen. All ten or twelve snaps between hospital visits. But it's going to take some luck to find someone in the second or third round that's better than he is. At this point I think they need to keep at it until they do.
