This is pretty much my max and believe it or not, I did decline a few trade scenarios. I kind of cheated seeing the "BPA" list on the side of the screen so I knew that I could attempt to take a guy later that I have ranked highest. I.E. I drafted Sterling Shepard and Josh Garnett because they were getting close on the list and I was able to wait on my personal BPA at the time Kaufusi. I did the same when I selected Jerrell Adams over Malcolm Mitchell. If I had been smart, I might have attempted to trade back up for players like Maliek Collins (#79) and Nick Vannett (#94). Correa was my BPA at #122. I took Haeg to complete my O-Line of Kelly, Garnett, and Haeg. I love Promise as my 3rd down back and because I had so many picks I took a flyer on Jonathan Williams. I always seem to take Keyarris and Hogan was my backup QB selection. Having extra picks I selected a pass-rush specialist in Dadi Nicolas. I have a H-Back in Dan Vitale. Then just to have a QB on the practice squad I grabbed Kessler.

I didn't get any good trade-down opportunities in the first and second but took one in the third that netted two fourths and a sixth. Therefore, the draft is full of role players and not sexy: 22: R1P22 OT JACK CONKLIN MICHIGAN STATE 52: R2P21 C NICK MARTIN NOTRE DAME 104: R4P6 TE TYLER HIGBEE WESTERN KENTUCKY 119: R4P21 DT MATT IOANNIDIS TEMPLE 130: R4P32 WR RASHARD HIGGINS COLORADO STATE 159: R5P20 ILB BENIQUEZ BROWN MISSISSIPPI STATE 166: R5P27 CB ERIC MURRAY MINNESOTA 182: R6P7 RB KENYAN DRAKE ALABAMA 195: R6P20 WR KEYARRIS GARRETT TULSA TRADE PARTNER: BALTIMORE RAVENS SENT: ROUND: 3 PICK: 22 RECEIVED: ROUND: 4 PICK: 6 ROUND: 4 PICK: 32 ROUND: 6 PICK: 7 |

After the big trade and a new 4/19 NFL.com big board to play with, I took a small trade down and got a decent, not great, draft:

Conklin gives me flexibility with the OL. Shepard and Mitchell are nice additions to the WRs. Collins gives me push up the middle. Davis is a big hitter who can cover and I really was surprised to see him available in the 4th. Tapper is a project at OLB, but I like his measurables. Canady was was simply the BPA. Bummed I couldn't come away with at least one TE and I would need to trade down and get an extra pick to find one for the roster.

4/12 CBS board:
A bit strange. With the big trade, I sense the OTs may drop a little bit which might allow Conklin or Decker to fall to us. The question will be whether now is the time to upgrade the OT position and prepare for Duane Brown to be next spring's big cap casualty. With some of the other options (Ragland, Elliott, Lynch, Reed), I'm becoming bigger on taking the good LTs while you can. I traded down in the second for a lower 2nd and a 3rd then traded the lower 2nd for a 3rd and a 5th. I missed out on some of the guys I wanted but still had a decent draft, not a dazzler. 22: R1P22 OT JACK CONKLIN MICHIGAN STATE 71: R3P8 WR STERLING SHEPARD OKLAHOMA 85: R3P22 TE AUSTIN HOOPER STANFORD 93: R3P30 C MAX TUERK SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA 119: R4P21 RB PAUL PERKINS UCLA 149: R5P10 DT MATT IOANNIDIS TEMPLE 159: R5P20 S SEAN DAVIS MARYLAND 166: R5P27 ILB BLAKE MARTINEZ STANFORD 195: R6P20 DT ANTWAUN WOODS SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA TRADE PARTNER: CAROLINA PANTHERS SENT: ROUND: 2 PICK: 21 RECEIVED: ROUND: 2 PICK: 31 ROUND: 3 PICK: 30 TRADE PARTNER: NEW YORK GIANTS SENT: ROUND: 2 PICK: 31 RECEIVED: ROUND: 3 PICK: 8 ROUND: 5 PICK: 10 |

You can never have too many good cover corners and you can never have too many good OTs.
