Nick Vannett went @ #71(R3P8) right before Joshua Garnett. I think I got a bargain in Adams @ #127. I took Glasgow @ #159 when I was trying to decide between him and OT Joe Haeg and Connor McGovern. Hang went @ #160 and I took McGovern @ #166. Hindsight being 20/20 I should have taken Haeg @ #159 and then whoever was left @ #166 to play C since I already had Garnett on the roster. I was surprised that I was able to get Jarran Reed in the 2nd round. Reed and Sterling Shepard have 1st round grades on my draft board, so I was pleased to get them when I did while racking up extra picks. Garnett is my starting RG for the next 8 years. Correa provides insurance when Clowney gets injured and can rotate on passing downs. The prospect of Watt, Reed, and Hargrave is exciting to me. Promise is talented and has a ton of potential receiving out of the backfield. Prescott just needs to keep his nose clean and not be a distraction off the field. I doubt the Texans would draft him, but I've made it be known how I feel about this guy. Canady was a luxury I could afford with all the extra draft picks. At his size, he could potentially be a FS, and having a big CB is always a good thing to have in the tool box. Garrett and Mitchell are my favorite WRs that nobody is talking about and I want them on the roster. I grabbed Lasco for his speed and return ability. I realize that I have a lot of bodies from this draft, but that's less UDFAs I have to call.

Really happy with this draft. Attempted to get a couple more picks in the 3rd round but was unable to. I would have liked to have been able to get Bronson Kaufusi to play DE when he came off the board at #85 and NT Maliek Collins at # 74. Overall, I can't complain too much. Conklin and Kelly on the OL is amazing. Vannett is my favorite TE after really studying this group. Hargrove will play the NT. Got my 2 WRs in the 5th round. Got my backup QB and my Change-Of-Pace RB/Returner.

Arrowhead was the only board updated so I tried it. At #22, I could have selected Ragland (Kelly was gone) but the Patriots tempted me with two 2nds, a 3rd and a 6th. I took it but that was lower than I wanted to fall so I traded back up in the second and then traded down once more. I got some good players but I've liked some of my other drafts better.

Nkemdiche and Chris Jones were just too much value to pass up. Cardale, as I mentioned before, I want to try out as a "slash" player.

Been out of town, but I'm back now. Another mock utilizing the CBS board. I traded out of the 1st round for two 2nd round picks. I was not sure that I would like the results, but I did. I wanted to give some props to Roy for making me take a look at a couple of the guys I took in this draft. Also my trade down was attempted in order to target a couple of them in the 2nd and 3rd rounds.

TEXANS RECEIVED:

ROUND: 3 PICK: 28
ROUND: 6 PICK: 21

Butler has been high on my list since I watched him at the Senior Bowl. Garnett has a mean streak and seems to fit the proto type guy that Mike Devlin likes to coach. I have not been targeting Garnett in some time, but Roy made a post recently that returned him to a target for me.
Having Hunter sitting there at 61 was surprising to me and I jumped, he has the potential to be the best TE the Texans have had since Owen Daniels was in his prime. Next I took my 2nd rated OC, a hole that is begging to be filled.
this gives me a OL of Brown, Allen, Martin, Garnett, Hopkins. Su'a-Filo either steps up and beats out one of the rookies or he backs up two positions (OC,OG) either way he moves on when his rookie deal expires.
Next pick was another one of Roys guys Fanaika, I have to agree with Roy, he looks like a young JJ. I'm not saying he has the upside of JJ, but no one knew JJ had that upside, and Fanaika is only a late 3rd round pick.

I was not sold on trading out of the 1st round, but I was impressed with the three 2nd rounders I got. All three have been discussed as possible 1st rounders this off season. And my two 3rd rounder I would not have been upset if I had drafted them in the 2nd. So five players in the top 100, I could get on board with that.

Unless a few stud players fall, trading seems like our best option. There are maybe five or so players I would still choose at #22 but the gift of having additional 2nds and 3rds generally outweigh them. I'd be okay with a draft like this.

Who's your Dadi?

I tried the Fanspeak board (4/5) and it was Trade-a-Palooza. The Bengals wanted me to trade down to #24, then the Seahawks wanted me to trade down to #26 then the Panthers wanted me to trade down to #30, picking up extra selections along the way which I then used to trade up with the Rams in Round 2 and trade up with the Saints in Round 3. Finally, I traded down one spot in the 3rd with Philadelphia to pocket an extra sixth. In the end, I got everything covered except a DE to replace Crick.

I traded out of the first round and still got my guy Ryan Kelly! I was surprised to see Spriggs still sitting there at #74. He is going to take time to develop, but he could potentially become a starting LT in the NFL, so I felt there was value here with his athleticism. Bronson Kaufusi is slowly becoming one of my favorite players in this draft. He is older due to his Mission, but I like what I see and if he and Nassib are unavailable, I don't know who to get to fill in for Crick that I will be happy about. Javon Hargrave is a guy who I consistently draft. I selected 2 TEs and am pleased to do so when it's Vannett and Hooper. Von Bell is a guy I've seen projected as a 2nd rounder and I have a hard time buying that. However, if available at #108....I've decided to add him to My Guys. I got Malcolm Mitchell again. Feel really good about adding Kelly, Spriggs, and Glasgow to the OL group. Nick Vigil is going to be a good/solid NFL ILB and I'm preparing for the day when Cushing is no longer a Texan. Keyarris Garrett always shows up on my draft classes. Kevin Hogan came off the board @ #185 and with so many picks from trading down, I decided to get a game manager who lacks size, but makes up for it with intelligence and accuracy. Maybe I watched too many USC games, but I like this kid as a solid back-up who is much cheaper than Hoyer. I wanted a RB and Tre Madden was the guy with size/speed (6'0" 220lbs/7.09-Cone and 4.27-Shuttle) and still on the board (again, I watched some USC games). Tavon Young is only 5' 9 1/8" 183lbs, but I think he could play the slot. He has very good quickness (6.80-Cone and 3.93-Shuttle.
