Not that I don't trust Lance, but here's the St. Petersburg Times corroborating the claim.

Passed over in the NFL Draft, former USF linebacker Ben Moffitt has landed on his feet, signing a free-agent contract with the Houston Texans on Sunday night, according to his agent, Marc Lillibridge.

"They didn't draft any linebackers, and we feel like it's a good fit for him," said Lillibridge, who said he heard from about 15 other teams after the draft before choosing the Texans. Houston actually drafted outside linebacker Xavier Adibi of Virginia Tech in the fourth round.

I thought Moffit was worth an early 2nd day pick, so I like this one.

Overview A 2006 All-Mountain West 2nd Team player and Pre-season 1st team selection heading into his 2007 Senior year, Nading is being watch nationally as a player on the rise. Nading is a tall lineman in the mold of Jason Taylor who could surprise scouts with a productive year.

Strengths Decent amount of speed of the edge with a large wing span. Has very good pad level for such a tall man and has does a fairly good job at reading & reacting.

Weaknesses Must improve on technique and add more moves to his repertoire. Must make better use of his hands and increase pper body strength.

Projection Nading was viewed as a possible late 2nd day pick but coaches have soured on his lack of production in 2007. More than likely an UDFA signee.

Also, if anyone has scouting reports for any or all of these players I'd love to see them. I found reports for a couple of these guys and linked them above but the website wouldn't let me copy/paste.

Ben Moffitt LB South Florida

STRENGTHS
Ben is an excellent LB who has the size, speed and skills to play all three LB positions. He is a head up, wrap up, squeeze and drive tackler who shows excellent leadership skills. Ben makes the players around him better. He demonstrates a very good burst to the ball and understands how to use angles. Ben shows clarity in situational football as well as the instincts and intelligence at the LB position to be a coach on the field. He has the potential to be a Pro Bowl LB for the team that drafts him along with being a core player and fan favorite. I call him Ben (The Bear) Moffitt because once he gets the scent of what the offense is doing, he is all over it like a bear on honey.

NEEDS TO IMPROVE
Ben might not improve his quickness and techniques in pass coverage. Most LBs coming out of college needs to improve in this area. However, all of that is just nit picking because the kid has the athletic ability, intelligence and work ethic to improve in all phases of his game.

TALENT BOARD ROUND 1
Right now, Ben is flying under most team’s radars, but I suspect by the time we get to the draft, Ben will be listed as a top LB in this draft. He is just a quality kid and has almost as much athletic talent as AJ Hawk when he was drafted. When Ben starts to work out for the scouts and GM’s is when he will move up in this draft. I think he has a chance to be listed as a top 15 pick in this draft. For me personally, I would not hesitate to list this kid in my personal top ten. Size, speed, character, leadership skills, good tackling techniques, the ability to make the players around him better…all of these traits are what you look for in a football player when profiling them for the next level. Ben has them all. I dare anyone to tell me differently. The key for Ben will be his workout numbers. These numbers will dictate what round he will be drafted in. But no matter what his workout numbers actualize to be, this kid is a hell of a LB. The team that drafts him is going to get one of the best in this draft no matter the round in which he’s taken. Remember it’s not all about athletic talent, it’s how well you play the game and in this draft, Ben is one of the better ones. Like I said before, I call him Ben (the Bear) Moffitt because once he gets the scent….. he’s like a bear ripping into a hive of honey!

STRENGTHS

Eric is a football player. He has excellent "in the box" quickness and does a great job analyzing a play before, during and after it has happened. Eric has terrific instincts, reactions and is a head up, wrap up, squeeze and drive tackler. He exhibits good leadership skills and is a smart player who understands situational football. He loves to win and he does not care how his team accomplishes winning as long as they win. The team that signs Eric will be signing a player who will learn and play any position asked of him as long as he can get on the field and help his team win. Eric wants to be an NFL player -- that is his main goal.



NEEDS TO IMPROVE

He is too small to be a DT, not fast enough to be an LB, not big enough to be a DE and, in spite of all that, I think he will be a core player for the team that drafts him. I'm not sure what position he'll play, but you can see that Eric needs to be an NFL football player.



TALENT BOARD ROUND 5

Eric is just an instinctive football player. He is the type of player that may not have a set position now, but my advice is to just draft him and then find out how he fits into your system afterwards. Maybe he is just a situational pass rusher or an OLB in a 3-4 defense or maybe, he is just a special teams player; the truth is that a player like Eric belongs on the football field. He reminds me a little of Mike Vrabel (OLB NE Patriots), but he is more explosive. I'm not sure if he has all the skills needed to be a true OLB, but he does have the instincts and quickness and is a hell of a tackler. Those skills alone are worth drafting the kid and seeing where he fits on your team. I would think that teams like the Patriots, Jets, Dolphins, Cowboys or any other 3-4 defense teams would be interested in drafting Eric. I know this kid is going to help the team that drafts him in some capacity and I know the fans are going to love him as well. He might not be drafted at all, but all I can say is keep track of this kid. He is a pure football player and I suspect if you look up the words "football player" in the dictionary - a picture of Eric will be there.
