Unsurprisingly, a ringing endorsement from Uncle Bob.
@MarkBermanFox26: Bob McNair on Gary Kubiak:"How can anybody get a team playing harder than this team was playing. I don't know how anybody can criticize him"

I saw that quote and could not believe it. How do you say before the season this is the most talented team we've ever had, and then after we lose our 5TH straight, you say, "We played hard." Pathetic.

He thought he had a good football team because he reads the news. Hell, everyone thought we had a good team, myself included. Who'd a thought Matt would regress to the point to being an actual issue for this team. We all figured he'd regress, but not to the point we have seen. Uncle Bob is a businessman, plain and simple. He's been pretty successful too. Very few franchises will fire thier HC one year removed from two consectutive Division Titles + a playoff win in each one. On paper, that's success. And while we all want more, Uncle Bob included as that's good for business, he's never proven anything other than taking a conservative/cautious approach to every move he's made. And that's why the staff will likely stay in place next year.

I think McNair is saying what he ought to say *for public consumption*. It's only mid-season. He doesn't want to throw in the towel yet or fans will stop coming and paying outrageous stadium prices. Changes like coaching staff and key players are for after the season when he's not trying to sell a product.
He may have an entirely different view behind closed doors but he's going to save that opinion for Rick Smith and members of his board like he's supposed to. If there's an ass-chewing to be done, that will be the proper audience, not on Twitter or in the media. Think of it another way. We played within one point of an undefeated club in their house with no Schaub, no Foster and no Cushing. Keenum gave a credible performance. There are positives to take away from this game which might be foundational for whatever rebuild is to come. |

Now don't know about the staff remaining intact, after all they gotta find a scapegoat or two to throw to the wolves after the season is over. But it should still be a very interesting offseason, though maybe not what we had in mind or what we were hoping for. |
