Found a list of 2013 FA, and these names are shown for the Texans: Schaub, Brown, Barwin, Butler, Casey, Caldwell, Cody, McCain, Quin, and Jamison.
Quin and McCain will be looking at raises also. We have the potential to loose a few key pieces to this team.

$25 million is a lot. It's more than most of the nfl. Schaub's cap number is huge in his last year. If he's back it will be on year one of a deal and it shouldn't be that much. Either way we will have the option to bring all of our relevant FAs back or let some walk and spend elsewhere. A big improvement from this summer, and like I said, the end of our mini cap hell.

As of June 22, looks like Texans have 4.05 mil in cap space in 2012
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...as-of-june-22/ I guess we have two third round draft picks yet to sign. Perhaps some depth at WR, OL, or as injuries occur. Wondering if they will try to resign some of our tops entering FA next year such as Barwin, Brown, Schaub, several others, seems possible now. And just found this site which appears to have fairly accurate cap numbers for each current player on roster http://www.askthecommish.com/salarycap/ByPlayer.aspx well, when sum top 53 from askthecommish totals to about 93mil, so something not adding up somewhere. Unless Barwins deal has no new money, don't expect to see his extension till after the season. With the $1.6MM we got from Dallas and Washington, that gives them $900k to play with during the season. Not much to work with, wouldn't be surprised if we see a restructure or three.
Every penny will count this year. From Schefter: Houston, Detroit and N.Y. Giants are all roughly $700,000 over NFL's salary cap, according to league source. Houston can take their cap exception from the Redskins and Cowboys and get under the cap, but the Giants and Lions will have to make a move or restructure contracts to get under cap. They have until Wednesday to do it.

I still can't understand why they haven't re-upped Schaub yet. One would think it would benefit the Texans and give them a lot of cap space this year since it would be mostly be back loaded, and one would think it would benefit Schaub for securing his future with a team he knows and likes. Maybe I'm missing something, but isn't re-signing Schaub inevitable? I mean, what else do they have in the pipeline at QB for '13 and beyond? Anybody here REALLY think Yates is the answer for the long haul - especially with the Texans loaded for a few playoff runs in the years ahead?? Maybe he is the answer, but I still think re-signing Schaub is inevitable so why not just get it done?

It must be the Texans that are unwilling to negotiate. I have to imagine they look at Schaub and think he is a gamble to play full seasons into his mid-30s coming off a lisfranc injury, I dunno.
I agree though. I didn't see nearly enough progress from Yates this preseason to think he'd be ready to carry the team in 2013. To think, the Texans could have extended Schaub and created enough room to keep either Winston or DeMeco... Schaub's market value must be tough to get a clear estimate on though.
