That is a sobering, terrifying point.

You know, I have seen, heard and read quite a bit about the plight of many former NFL players and their health problems related to the many concussions they suffered. It is no joke, at all. I am completely in favor of various measures designed to minimize and hopefully eventually eliminate this serious problem. I would hope that eventually equipment advancements would bring us most of the distance towards the goal. It is important and it should be pursued with every available resource.

But year by year the game gets more and more frustrating to watch. There is a clear difference between someone deliberately hitting the head of another player and incidental head to head contact. One should be penalized, the other should not. And the idiotic protection of quarterbacks at all costs is a real blight on the game.

I guess I'm getting more an more possessive about the NFL as my other professional sports options fall by the wayside one by one.

Chuck, this is one of the limper ProBowls that I can remember. They have NEVER been an all out game, but most have been more towards preseason levels. This is just an exhibition game at best.

Exactly, perfect comparison. Preseason level intensity is what I remember. This is just a joke. Even now with the reserves in and $25,000 on the line.

I honestly think DJ would have been even better than he is now if he hadn't wasted the first few years on the revolving door of Chiefs defensive coordinators.

Yea but remember Johnson wasn't a 3-4 LB, atleast that's what Casserly told us back then so he wouldn't fit in Capers' D. Oh wait, he played @ ILB in the 3-4 at KC this year and ends up in the Pro Bowl. Never mind.
Got to see Johnson play this year (chiefs on MNF), and he was really impressive.
I'd always heard so much about him when he was in college and didn't understand why as I didn't see any UT games back then, but now I can understand what all the whoop-la is about.

The Pro Bowl is terrible. Even Hockey's, where they literally play a pick-up game, is better. I don't think the game can be saved, no matter when you play it, with the exception of replacing the hall of fame game with the pro bowl and like someone said, give the winning conference the home game. You're just not gonna get guys that are willing to risk injury by going 100% in an exhibition. I rather enjoy the skills competitions on Saturday, though. Maybe just do that?

Hey, I've got an idea. In order to inject some relevance into the game how about we say that the Super Bowl representative of the conference that wins the Pro Bowl gets to be the home team at the Super Bowl?
