Yep, might be the best thing to happen but I didn't like seeing TJ moving backwards...

I don't think it's ever a good thing to lose. And there isn't any logic that says there is. Only excuses say losing is good. We stunk today. We need to be better next week.

Yates really looked like a rookie today, the whole team came out flat, and then we have 3 turnovers and they have none so we give ourselves no chance to win this game. NP because everybody has a bad day, even the Packers.
And it's also games like this one when one realizes just how ineffective our offense is without our starting QB and Andre.

This is the first game where I felt that the offense was seriously compromised by not having Andre.

Winning is always good; losing is always bad. But I could very definitely envision a scenario where a very poor game like this followed very quickly by a shot at redemption might ultimately give this team a chance to profit.

John McClain, someone I never expect to go to Oslo to receive a Nobel Prize, said something thought provoking after the game. He said that he thought that a young team (the Texans) benefited from playing the first week of the playoffs whereas an older team definitely benefits from a week off. Having home field the second week of the playoffs is very valuable obviously, but I can see his point.

The bye gets you a step closer to the superbowl, but a 1st round game us probably our best chance at a win. Not sure how likely the superbowl is so I would not be heartbroken by a shot at the jets or bengals instead of the steelers/ravens/patriots in round 2.

I feel like this team is not currently good enough to beat the Ravens, Steelers or the Patriots so I'm hoping that putting sixty minutes on tape that demonstrates exactly why they're not and then giving them what amounts to an immediate opportunity to go out and correct the many mistakes they'll see will end up being a benefit.

Maybe this ugly loss will snap them out of their reverie. If what we saw today is really, ultimately who they are then we'll experience a loss in week one against the Jets or whoever and reconvene next year.

All that said, Cam Newton is no joke. I'll take playing against Luck for the next decade rather than trying to play that guy.

Getting humbled can be turned into a good thing. It could and should force the team to get their heads out of their butts and refocus and take care of business the next two games. Unfortunate that it took a loss to get there....

To get where? If we win today it's a 8 game winning streak and our heads were never in our butts. How is it better to lose to possibly get back to where we would already be if we had won?

Winning games is good and losing them is bad. Very simple.

barrett, I hate to break it to you but 16-0 doesn't happen all that much. One can learn from losing just as much as they can from winning. It's a young team that hasn't been here before. They're not a well-oiled winning machine with no flaws...Things that force you to get better and being the best you can be are progress. If you can't wrap your mind around that, then I have nothing further to say.

I don't like it when they lose either but ultimately, I have no control over it..

I didn't say we need to go 16-0. I also didn't say you can't learn from a loss. I said we stunk and we need to play better next week.

Winning is always better than losing. It's not rocket science and trying to pretend a loss is good after the fact is foolish. I sure didn't hear you before noon saying, "boy we need to lose this one as a learning experience."
