I give Yates some 'intangibles' bonus points for keeping that UNC team together this season while many of it's stars were being suspended or injured. Since I'm not an employee of the Texans, I haven't had the opportunity to sit in on the interview process either. Sometimes, a personality that 'clicks' with the team and a potential leader at this position is highly valued.

The knock on McElroy is that he has a 'hitch' in his throwing motion. I hate that when I read it as a negative for a QB. I always resort to Bernie Kosar when somebody says that a QB has to throw the ball in a certain motion.

I wouldn't say that Yates is going to remind anybody of Joe Flacco in terms of arm strength. However, Matt Schaub wasn't considered to have a 'big arm' either when he came from UVa.

On another note....the Steelers take my guy Chris Carter.
