Default Packers release AJ Hawk

I know they are still looking to sign him, maybe. But if there is any way we could at least talk to him they should be doing it.

I agree, ND Kalu was on the radio today making a great point about this team, they never sign quality guys in positions they already have an established player.

ND said go after Hawk, let him battle Ryans and Cushing in the middle, let the best man win, and everyone gets better from the competition.

While the good teams are getting better the Texans are only subtracting and not signing anyone, much less talking to outside guys. Not a strong message to the fans with this mode of operating.

Reports are that it's likely Hawk will re-sign with GB. I don't disagree that competition is good, but if the Texans are going to be spend money in FA (a BIG if), I'd rather they spend the money elsewhere in an area that's a known need. Hell, IMO, a good #2 WR is a bigger need than MLB at this point.

We need LBs for our new 3-4, but edge guys and not ILBs which is where
Hawk would play.

ND Kalu did not just talk about getting Hawk, he talked about getting a veteran #2 WR, getting a solid veteran safety to compete with Pollard (this was prior to Pollard not being tendered).

He agreed with you guys that ILB is not our biggest need, the point he was making was this team tends to go out and sign 22 starters and then they think they are done. He says the better teams have multiple guys capable of starting at key positions so the guys push each other to be better.

Green Bay had 15 guys(?) on IR and still won the Super Bowl.

The Texans should have called Shaun Rogers, they should have Bob Sanders come in, they should be talking to Braylon Edward, talk to the play makers that can help your team.

Not saying that each of these guys will help but at least make an effort that we can see.

The emphasis on building through the draft has not worked. This team needs to get much more aggressive in the FA market.

GB reupped Hawk, they just wanted to reduce the 10 mil of his old contract.

I would like to see Texans do something for some good expereince UFA's as well on defensive side. still early though.

As usual, you don't understand the thrust of the conversation.

Sad to say but we do need competition at #2WR. Walter has not been doing the job lately. Give him some competition, and/or give him the door.

Kind sir, you have a special talent for posting messages in odd places or, more especially, rejuvenating long-lost threads for no apparent reason.

But at least you are posting to this most excellent board. The team is so irrelevant (and the league is now trying to position itself similarly) that no one much posts here in the off-season. And I, for one, appreciate your insistence and your insubordination.

So I salute you, Mister Post In The Wrong Thread Guy. You post in places where no one else wants to post. You resuscitate threads everyone else has forgotten about. (We got us a good 'un!) You confuse everyone with your meandering style. Mister Post In The Wrong Threeeeheeeheead Guy!

Whatever Chuck, you have been on a rag for the longest time. So by all means, rattle away.
