Mock - Texas Trade Up

At least one other mock has Spiller falling to us at #20. Can't imagine losing a second-rounder to trade up for somebody who could have been there without a trade up.

Thomas or Haden makes sense but only if the Texans are certain that this is the exact guy they need. The Texans have yet to trade up in the first round so the several mocks I've seen that show them trading up are fantasies until the Texans actually prove they are willing to make the move.

IIRC the Texans did trade up into the first round with a package of later round picks to draft Jason Babin back in 2004, but that was subsequent to using their origional first round pick (#10) to draft Dunta Robinson. I'm thinking you meant to move further up "within" the first round with multiple picks to make a trade ?
Most of us are hoping that the Texans trade back at every opportunity to acquire additional picks ( in whatever rounds), but trouble is most teams
feel the same and therefor it's difficult to find trading partners.

Yes, thanks for clarifying that. I wasn't thinking of the Babin fiasco where we traded back into the first round with our second. I was talking about moving up in the first round. But that was under a different GM. I'm not against trading up if the deal is reasonable and the player is exceptionally better than what we could have had standing pat. But, aside from Adrian Peterson, I can't think of any running back since the Texans came into the league that I've wanted to trade up to get. RBs are too plentiful, too injury prone and, other than a handful of greats, are easy to replace. Plus, they want to be paid like stars.
