I don't understand where this sentiment is coming from as I've seen it from several different places. Just because Morgan projects as a RDE doesn't mean he can move to 3-4 OLB.

I mean, I'm not scout, but I am a Georgia Tech fan and have watched a lot of Derrick Morgan, and he is not a LB. He's a classic DE and reminds me a lot of Freeney in the way he plays.

Outside linebacker (weak side, away from the tight end): "He's the rusher, he's the speed guy. Has to be good enough in the rush to beat tackles one-on-one enough to make plays and always beat any backs who try to block him."

What about him makes yo think he couldnt do this?

There's a difference between not being able to do something, and doing something you are best suited for. Andre Johnson could play safety. Brian Cushing could play DE. But, they don't because they're better suited for what they do play.

Again, I'm no scout, so I could be off base here. And, it only takes one team with a crazy idea (i.e. Orakpo at SLB in Washington.) But, Morgan plays DE at Georgia Tech, is a heavy 280lbs., and plays his position well. Not only do I not see a reason for him to play LB, I don't see a fit. Like I've said, we'll have to wait for scout's opinions to come out on the issue for a more definitive answer, but simply by watching him play, he seems a lot more like a Freeney to me than a Merriman.

I'm still curious where this idea came from in the first place.

I felt similarly last year when Mike Mayock sayd Robert Ayers could play OLB ina 3/4. Then Mike Nolan's 3/4 running defense went out and drafted him. Now, Ayers is the backup OLB to Elvis Dumervil.

Yea, it could happen. But, it just seems absurd to me.

Last year we drafted DB's Glover Quinn, Brice McCain, and Troy Nolan. I think they were all in the same conference, weren't they?

Anyway, I don't know if they will declare for the draft early or not, but I really like these two guys from the ACC....

Nolan played in the PAC 10, the other two were in the Mountain West.
