Running a play to get more yards would have still ran the clock down to the 2 minute warning. Same result in time usage but the actual results differ greatly - one moves you closer to your goal, the other one gives you no actual advantage in yardage.

In a game of football, I will always take as many yards as I can get. Especially if it takes time off of the clock while moving my opponent deeper into his territory, that is a double benefit.

I do agree that pass was ill-advised but you already were resigning yourself the FG attempt by your passive nature around the 2 minute mark
