Default The upcoming game at the Colts

Looks like both teams have a good offense and improving defense, but both teams have only beaten one team with a winning record, so this game will tell us quite a bit about both teams. Historically over last 7 years one would guess Indy has the better team, but, just maybe things are changing.

I'm thinking if we get pressure on Manning, it can be a close game, and if we actually win the turnover battle, we have a good chance to win.

I don't think we need this game to make the playoffs, but if we win it, a winning record and playoffs look much more likely. Anticipation is building.

It's a very important division game and I think the Colts are well aware that they can probably wrap up the AFC South with a win. However, a loss to the Texans and all of a sudden, the rematch 3 weeks later gets a lot more interesting....

Colts have some new young receivers (Collie, Garcon) as well as a couple of old standbys (Wayne, Clark). The key as always with Manning is to pressure him and make him as uncomfortable as possible. Should be a good test for the Texan defense. I'm not expecting a shutout by the defense but some well timed stops may prove critical. A turnover or two would be icing on the cake. The Texan offense must somehow do their part against the #1 defense in pts. allowed/game (13 pts)....

Colts favored by 8.5 to 9.5

The way to get pressure on Manning is up the middle. With a rush from the edge, Manning is EXCELLENT at stepping up into the pocket. This would mean we must have an excellent blitz plan and above average production from Amobi and whomever else. I think that we can handle their receivers I just hope we can disrupt Manning.

Yeah, it might be hurting, but the Indy offense is humming. I think we can score enough to win on them, but we have not proven that we can stop them from scoring.

I am more worried about Manning and his band of WR's and Dallas Clark. Manning is more automatic against us, than a stripper being on meth.

It just got a little worse for them too.....
From PFT:

Colts lose starting cornerback Jackson for season
The Tony Dungy era Colts usually had one of the best statistical pass defenses in the league.

That trend has kept up under Jim Caldwell this year, but the Colts secondary will be tested after losing cornerback Marlin Jackson for the season, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Jackson tore his ACL at practice Wednesday, which makes somehow makes the injury seem even more devastating. The 2005 first-round pick used to be a starter for the team, but his role was reduced this season to nickle back as he struggled to recover from two surgeries to repair a torn ACL last year.

The Colts are first in the league in yards-per-attempt allowed, and should still be in good shape. They are used to replacing cornerbacks

With all the injuries and gimp players in the Colts secondary, we need to come out super-aggressive with the passing game.

Not a lot of love from the "experts" on this one.... All the ESPN guys are picking the Colts..... Same with the Sunday Countdown crew...

Only one guy I've heard pick the Texans so far: Sterling Sharpe of NFLN. His cohorts, Baldinger and Theismann are picking the Colts....

Of course, all these picks are winner only - no spread involved...

Not getting love nationally is to be expected. The team has not yet earned the respect to make people pick them. If we do win Sunday, I am sure we will get the respect that is deserved.

It appears that the Colts run of bad luck continues....SUCKS FOR THEM

PFT Reporting:
Report: Bob Sanders out for season
Posted by Michael David Smith on November 6, 2009 1:04 PM ET
Indianapolis Colts safety Bob Sanders is out for the season with a torn biceps tendon, Adam Schefter of ESPN is reporting.

Sanders visited Dr. James Andrews this week, and Colts coach Jim Caldwell said today that Sanders would need surgery. But while Caldwell indicated that he was holding out some hope that Sanders could return, Schefter reports that Sanders is done for the year. Sanders suffered the injury in Sunday's win over the San Francisco 49ers.

When healthy, Sanders is one of the best defensive players in football. But he's not healthy often: Sanders has played just 47 regular-season games in his six-year NFL career.

The loss of Sanders is a big one for the 7-0 Colts, and it's not the only big injury the Colts have had in their secondary this week. Colts cornerback Kelvin Hayden is expected to miss up to four weeks with a knee injury, and fellow cornerback Marlin Jackson has been placed on injured reserve after tearing his ACL during a non-contact drill in practice on Wednesday.

Guys like Bob Sanders cannot stay healthy because they are bulking huge... They are more prone to injuries because guys like that lose flexibility. Any wrong stretch can easily tear a muscle for huge guys like them.... Just look at them biceps.

This is a game that I always have mixed feelings about. I've like the Colts since Eric Dickerson played for them and even named my daughter Peyton. However, living in Houston since the Texans came into the league has made them my "pet" team. Just my luck that they are in the same Division. So, while I expect the Colts to win, I'd be happy if the Texans were to steal this game. It would give the Texans something to be hopeful about while making the Colts recognize that they aren't as great as their record.

As long as Peyton is still chunking the pig, Indy will be tough to beat. However, we need to start doing just that if we ever hope to win the division and go all the way. Might as well start with this game.

ESPNs Herm Edwards on "NLF Live" came out yesterday picking the Texans, in part he said because of all the injuries in the Colts secondary.

One more: On 790am, there's one of those oddsmaker guys that runs a pay website that comes on every Friday at around 12:30pm and gives away a couple of "free" picks. He picks the Texans game every week and this week he likes the Texans 24-21 in a straight up win also citing the injuries to the Colts secondary. Sometimes he's pretty close - other times not - he picked the Texans to roll over the Jets in week 1...

The 9 point spread seems crazy to me and sends up a red flag. Sometimes Vegas will throw out a trap/sucker bet....

I'll be glued to the TV as usual, but I may have bent an elbow a couple of times to get me prepared.

We need to get pressure with our front four. Peyton Manning loves the one on one matchup with Dallas Clark when the opponents blitz.
