Brown Named Starter on Day One

First
day on the job, and rookie Duane Brown already has the corner office
and flex Fridays.
Head
coach Gary Kubiak demoted last year's starter at left tackle, Ephram
Salaam, before the team opened its first practice of a three-day
minicamp. Brown worked with the starters, something he should be
expected to do at some point anyway, but yet it's not something
he has earned.
Is
it fair? Maybe not, but this is football, not life. Wait, I just
googled it, and it turns out life isn't fair either, so I guess
we should quit worrying about whether Brown deserves this chance
so soon and start worrying about whether he can keep the job.
The
upshot here is that Brown will be baptized early and often by Mario
Williams, who by all accounts is still his badass self from the
latter half of last season. If Brown can make it here, he ought
to be able to make it anywhere.
So
orientation is officially over, Duane. Time to get to work.
