This is fantastic. At the very least I have to appreciate what Rick Smith's doing to give the young man another chance. Who the hell knows, he may turn out to be a contributor.

I agree, hats off to Rick Smith, I wondered if we would call him when Justice's article came out, and they did.

Spencer was doing really well before his injury in 2006. It would be nice if he could make a comeback. He is a big guy, like 6'4" and 335 lbs.

I hope he can play LG because anything would be an upgrade over what we have now...

Wasn't Rick Dennison (the new OC), the primary driver to get FA Wade Smith
signed up and on the Texans' roster ? And after last night I don't think he did much to displace Studdard as our starting LG ?
But this is good news about Spencer - I wish him the best in his new opportunity.

The Texans have their OT's in Winston, Brown, and Rashard whatsisname(?). So where does Spencer fit in, assuming he is over his leg problem in 2006? At OG? Rick Dennison will go for the puny but quick type of Denver guard, and Spence is a mauler. So I just don't get it.

They want to enter the season with 4 OTs. Their 4th, right now, is Adam Stenavich and he looks very bad. The only other two are : Cole Pemberton and Steve Maneri. Maneri has promise but they are converting him from TE. So, they are looking for a guy that can fill that 4th spot. That's why they also worked out Ephraim Salaam. It sounds like neither will be signed, barring injury to one of the other three.
