Official 2010 Senior Bowl Thread

Kyle Wilson, the CB from Boise State was the biggest standout of the day. During the CB vs. WR drill, Wilson undercut an out route for an interception on his first rep and was an offensive pass interference away from another on a nine route. Wilson was a premier punt returner in college, which means he is dangerous after an interception.

Yea this guy looked real good yesterday in Mobile and you know the Texans were paying close attention because if Robinson leaves CB will be very, very
high on our priority list.

According to Draft Countdown, the Texans were talking to these guys at the south practice: Dan Williams, Brandon Lang, and Harry Coleman - a defensive tackle, end , and back.

One other guy I thought looked good was Taylor Price, WR from Ohio. He caught everything and looked like an Austin Collie type of guy. Not sure how fast he will run but he looks like a player.

Harry Coleman? That's interesting. He was a safety that moved to LB for his senior season, and is projected to move back to SS for the NFL. He's supposed to have above average coverage skills for a SS, but below average cover skills for a FS. He fits the "hybrid" mold we purportedly look for, but would be a bad pairing with Pollard. He's also a bit redundant with Dom Barber on the roster.

He might make sense as a late round project/teams guy, but he's projected as a 3rd rounder. I just don't see a match there.

I don't either, but maybe that's the point ?
This whole Draft process has gotten so complex and sophisticated that it's well know that teams often fake an interest in certain players as a red herring to divert attention from the player(s) the team is actually most interested in picking.

I don't know if I buy into that theory. There might be a time or two when a team will do something deceptive, but I think the idea is generally overblown. If anything, I'd think the interview was just to build a profile for Coleman for the Texans' pro-scouting department. I find it hard to believe he's a target for the draft, though.

Among those scouts in attendance were representatives of your Houston Texansto include Gary Kubiak. One draftnik witnessed some Texans scouts talking to Idaho guard Mike Iupati, Vanderbilt offensive tackle Thomas Welch, and Fresno State running back Lonyae Miller. Before you get too excited or upset at the notion that Texans evaluators seem to be taking an interest in offensive players, keep in mind that the Smithiak administration usually play their draft cards pretty close to their vest; both Brian Cushing and Connor Barwin claimed to receive no special attention from the Texans prior to the draft last year.

I wonder if the Texans might want to take a look at that Larry Assante fella from Nebraska. I know he's peaked my interest.

Kyle Wilson was better at BSU than Orlando Scandrick, who starts for Dallas, now. He's a pretty good punt returner, too.
