Default Colts Trade for Trent Richardson

Big trades like this in the NFL are odd. Colts gave up a 1st round pick next year for Trent Richardson.

Wonder what they would have given for Ben Tate...

Regardless, worth considering to watch this develop since the Colts are a division opponent.

I agree that it makes little sense. Supposedly, the Browns wanted some ammo to go after the #1 pick next spring.

As a Texans fan, I'm actually kinda happy about the trade. The Colts now have zero round 1 picks to help with thier lack of defensive talent next year. I think that's good news.

TRich was a stud @ Bama, but hasn't done squat in the pros. I saw a stat that in 17 games, he has 2 100 yard games, and 2 runs over 20 yards. TWO.

The Colts Oline is not head over heels better than the Browns, but he will definitely see less 8 man fronts. Time will tell, and I could be wrong, but I sure as hell wouldn't have made that deal.

I don't get this trade either, that is from the standpoint of the Colts, but I think the Browns made a good move. Of course I wondered why they would part with the 3rd overall pick in the 2012 Draft for a running back. In this day and age of the pass-happy NFL didn't know anybody still drafted runners that high ?
And what could the Colts have gotten Tate for ? Oh I know that intradivisional trades are unusual but hypothetically speaking you've got to think that the Texans would really get interested in say a third-round pick for Tate if offered given his circumstances ? And high-draft picks, especially a teams first round pick, are an NFL organizations most highly valued assets.

I don't know why Tate wouldn't be considered highly valued by the Texans. Is Arian going to return to form? Can the team afford Arian next year or the year after?

The Browns reportedly have an eye on Tate as a free agent to replace Richardson: https://m.facebook.com/AdamSchefter/...11182732337160
