Default Undrafted free agents

Here's a few guys I'd like to see brought to camp:
  • QB Kellen Moore, Boise St. or Case Keenum, Houston: Smart but undersized "system" QBs
  • RB Chris Polk, Washington: Physical runner who needs to learn some of the same lessons that a certain Texan RB did.
  • WR Jeff Fuller, Texas A&M: Had a terrible senior year and his ability to get separation vs. NFL CBs has been questioned, but made some impressive catches. Kubiak played with his father at A&M.
  • TE Beau Reliford, Florida St.: Big and talented, but raw.
  • NT Marcus Forston, Miami: Not the giant NT they say they don't need. He flashed potential at Miami but never put it all together, at least in part due to injuries.
  • OLB Adrian Hamilton, Prairie View A&M: 22 sacks last year. I know it was at the I-AA level, but 22 sacks merits a look.
  • CB Coryell Judie, Texas A&M: Another guy who showed flashes but couldn't stay on the field.

I like all those ideas, Warren. Surprising that nobody took a chance on Polk or Judie since some "experts" saw them as third round material. I didn't notice if anyone bit on Cody Johnson, FB, Texas but that's another guy who can fill a need if he went undrafted.

Houston native and Missouri WR Jarrell Jackson signed with the Texans as an undrafted free agent, according to several sources. Jackson (6-0, 196) caught 111 passes for 1,419 yards and five TDs for Missouri and joins a crowded receiving corps that includes draftees DeVier Posey (3rd round) and Keshawn Martin (4th).

Record-setting Houston QB Case Keenum agreed to terms with the Texans, according to Fox 26 in Houston. Undrafted, Keenum (6-2, 210) remains in the city where he threw for an FCS-record 155 TDs and 19,217 yards for the Cougars from 2007-2011. He will begin behind Matt Schaub and T.J. Yates on the depth chart.
Per CBS Sports. I think this is a great pick-up and doubly so since he costs us nothing. Yes, he's a system QB who has had his knee scoped but I saw enough watching him play to know he's worth a shot and we all know what Kubes can do with QBs. Don't want to see anyone get injured but I hope he impresses in camp enough to earn a job. Meanwhile, Leinart is trying out with the Raiders.

WR Fuller appears to be signing with the Dolphins where he can continue to drop passes from Tannehill.

LB Burfict signs with the Bengals, where character questions never matter.

Dwight Jones is a big "get". Many had him penciled in as a 3rd-4th round pick. Tall wide receiver with big mitts. He could be a surprise in camp next summer.

Have you heard why his has fallen? Seems he was suspended from his bowl game by the NCAA, but the appeal process allowed him to play. The team also disallowed him from their pro day.

Also at the combine and the senior bowl he was called by the coaches running the drill, they thought he was not listening and he seemed to not care.

He seems immature. Now hopefully the going undrafted is a wake up call for him, I hope he turns out like another guy Kubiak coached that was an UDFA, Rod Smith. But that will be hard to do with only 5 WR on the 53 man roster, and two other rookies drafted early in this draft.

Except Rod Smith was not a character problem. He was from a small school (Missouri Southern, if I recall) and just needed somebody to notice him.

Dwight Jones did an interview on 610 radio around noon today.

I don't know if he has a character issue. He let a promotion use his name for a party which he didn't attend and aplogized for poor judgement and NCAA removed their suspension.

He was All conference with 11 TD and 1154 yds this year at 6'3" and 230 lbs.who before above incident was rated to go rd 2-3.

Sounds like his big, maybe immature ego , did get a wake up call not being drafted and now is very motivated with a chip on his shoulder.

He said he would do whatever needed to make the team.

And he hoped to be a starter , still confident.

We shall see but lots of upside.

All of a sudden it's real crowded at the receiver position.... I can't imagine the two draftees will be cut. AJ, Jacoby, Walter, Maehl, Jean, the two draftees and UDFA's Dwight Jones and Jerrel Jackson...... 3-5 of these won't make the team... IR and the practice squad will be an option....

I can see Maehl and Jacoby being the odd men out from the vets. Lets see how these guys look at practice.

NFL Draft breakdown for 49ers, Raiders, Maehl's Houston Texans
The following is an analysis of what the two Northern California teams, as well as one out-of-town squad with ties to a local player in Paradise High product Jeff Maehl might do today and this weekend in the NFL Draft.
http://www.paradisepost.com/sports/c...houston-texans

I'd hate to see Maehl get cut since the Texans probably get more ink in his little hometown in California than they get in Dallas or Austin, TX.
There were multiple stories about him in that newspaper last year when the Texans signed him as an UDFA, then another series of stories when he made their PS, then more when he made the active roster late in the year.

We have a Maehl on the roster, his name is Kevin Walter, and the HC has a chub for him. Don't see that we need another with the additions they pulled off.
