Broncos Sign CB Jackson For 3 years, $33 Million
Denver has signed free agent CB Kareem "Holding-Defense-Number-25" Jackson to a 3-year, $33 million contract as free agency begins. Jackson is ranked very high by PFF and other NFL media and he is outstanding in run support. But he's always been a hanky magnet in pass defense, particularly on critical downs.
It may be that CB could replace OT as the top need in the draft after the Texans lost Jackson and Kevin Johnson in the past few days. |

The Texans also 'lost' S Tyrann Mathieu to the Chiefs, signing a reported three-year, $42 million deal. The loss of Jackson, in spite of the yellow laundry, is far more impactful. Jackson had maybe his best season of his career in 2018.
So maybe DB is the top need at the moment. Regardless, for an 11-win team, there are so many needs. The extra second rounder from Seattle is needed, but it would be great to trade down and pick up some more round 2-4 bodies. Back on topic.... 9-year career as a Texan, that will surely go underrated even in Houston. Always a good hitting defensive back. Not many guys get $23M guaranteed after age 30 (he's 31 next month!), so maybe not a bad contract to let walk, but reports are the Texans never approached him with an offer. |

Eh, I was starting to like him as a safety. He had is troubles early on especially as a college-junior-coming-out-rookie. I think the CB position is so radically different in the NFL as compared to college, it takes these guys a while to get going.....
So, down to JJo, Webster, Colvin, Wright? Yep, gonna need at least 1 high pick rookie and someone else with experience.... |

He had zero ball skills. He had everything else that makes a great DB. The back end of our defense couldn't cover with these guys and I shudder to think what it looks like with our best guys gone. We better have one heck of a plan for how to stock the defensive backfield.
