AP and UPI have both ranked Texas #1. I'd rather they had been ranked #2 because it's a young team who may not stay focused being #1. They still have quite a gauntlet to run through with Missouri, Oklahoma St., Texas Tech and Kansas (all in the Top 20) still on the schedule, plus the Longhorns haven't beaten A&M since Vince Young left.

Texas is a better team than I thought they'd be but they are still too QB-dependent to be thought of as a dominant team right now.

Great win and I enjoyed the hell out of it but there's a long way to go. IMO, the team that's almost a lock for the BCS title game is Penn St. They have no conference championship game and they are easily the best team in the Big 11. All it takes is one slip by Texas or Alabama and they are in.

Safe to say it was a nice weekend around ItB.com headquarters, what with my alma mater winning and being voted #1 in the polls, the Texans winning, the USMNT (soccer) beating Cuba 6-1, my son going 2-for-3 with the GWRBI in his little league fall season opener, my four fantasy football teams looking to go 4-0 for the second straight weekend... and oh yeah, the Cowboys lost, too.

Not too shabby!

It's a brutal schedule for the Longhorns though... need to fight against the letdown this weekend against Mizzou first, then worry about the rest. I like this defense though.

And the VY-led team wasn't QB-dependent??

Oh Yeah, No. 1. If Horns go undefeated definitely earning the ranking.
