Default 2015 draft Wish List / Top Needs

With one more game to go, and a mid round pick assured, what do you see as the top needs and is there any players you think the team should target?

I could see the Texans going with any of these positions in the first round:

* QB (hope not since there isn't one at that point I would want)
* WR (if we trade Andre Johnson)
* CB (a constant need)
* ILB (if there's a good fit, more likely a 2nd or 3rd)
* RT (as we try again to replace Newton)

If the perfect fit is out there, I could also see TE, FS or NT.

Too early to talk names. Let's find out where were drafting and who declares before we get too serious about names.

Even before the draft, need to know among their UFAs who they choose/are able to re-sign.

Key UFAs:
QB Ryan Mallett
CB Kareem Jackson
DE Tim Jamison
S Kendrick Lewis
RT Derek Newton
DT Ryan Pickett
OLB Brooks Reed

Any of these guys leave, then there's a hole at their spot. Add slot WR and ILB to this too as needs. And a punt returner and upgrade at TE would be nice, too.

I could see the WR or CB being a 1st round target, even a ILB in the 1st, but I am currently not thinking QB in the 1st. But early returns have Hundley in the mid to late 1st.

Am I the only one who thinks Newton is getting better, and looked pretty good at OG?

I agree Newton has improved big time, so now he is a FA we need to resign.

I'm hoping all of those FA listed are resigned, especially Mallet and Jackson before FA shopping opens up.

I think we should go:

1 QB
2 QB
3 CB/QB (ideally someone who can do both)
4 QB
5 ILB/P (Lechler's starting to lose his edge and some of these LBs can really kick)
6 QB
7 QB

We'd have eleven quarterbacks on the roster going into camp and maybe then the eternal malcontent barrett would be happy.

That's a draft I can get behind!!!!

(Although I'd consider going QB in the 5th)

In order to make barrett and chuck happy, a draft like this one:

trade down in the late first near 28th

28 Brett Hundley QB UCLA rJr 6-3 227
45 Dak Prescott QB Mississippi State rJr 6-1 230
77 Bryce Petty QB Baylor rSr 6-3 230
109 Brandon Bridge QB South Alabama rSr 6-5 235
141 Sean Mannion QB Oregon State rSr 6-5 220
173 Bo Wallace QB Ole Miss Sr 6-4 217
205 Spencer Roth P 2 Baylor Sr 6-4 225

Sounds like a nice roster for the Senior Bowl

Even if they re-sign Kareem, they may still be looking for a starting CB since Johnathan Joseph will be 31 and will count $12.25 million against the cap. If he's not a cap casualty before then his contract will be up after the 2015 season.
