Default Official Texans @ Dolphins Game Thread, 11/7/2021

The 1-7 Houston Texans visit the 1-7 Miami Dolphins this Sunday in an early game on FOX. The Texans are coming off a 38-22 home loss to the Rams, the Dolphins are coming off a 26-11 road loss to the Bills.

Dolphin QB Tua Tagovailoa may start but QB Jacoby Brissett may also see action. Statistically they are about equal with Tagovailoa having more passing TDs but also more INTs. Top running back for the Dolphins is Myles Gaskin (279 yards, 4.2 yds/avg). Top receiver for the Dolphins is TE Mike Gesicki (475 yards, 11.9 avg) followed by WR Jaylen Waddle (413 yards, 8.6 avg.).

The good news for one of these teams is they will probably no longer have just one win after Sunday. The Dolphins have fared better than the Texans - 3 of their losses have been by 3 pts or less. However, they did lose to the Jags (in London). The Texans usually don't keep it close - just one loss of 3 pts or less (Patriots). With a few breaks (turnovers), they could win this one. I think the Dolphins have the better defense and win the game but if QB Tyrod Taylor sees action, I think the Texans can keep it close.

Dolphins 27, Texans 23

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

TV = FOX (channel 26 local), noon CST, Sunday, 11/7/2021

Other Sunday viewing in the Houston area:

CBS (late) = LA Chargers @ Philadelphia, Ian Eagle, Charles Davis

FOX (late) = Green Bay @ Kansas City, Joe Buck, Troy Aikman

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

The line's down to 5 1/2 in most places, as low as 5 in a couple. If it goes any lower I might actually have to throw some money at this.

Tua out with a broken finger.

First Texans drive into the red zone ends with an interception as Tyrod Taylor threw under heavy pressure from an unblocked pass rusher. David Johnson seemed lost identifying from where the blitzer was coming.

0-0 through first five minutes of play.

So far it seems like the Dolphins having to use their second string quarterback and the Texans getting to use their first string quarterback has had the expected impact on the inevitable result: none.

Texans get a turnover - fumble recovery at the Dolphin 33. See if they can do something with it....

About 12 minutes left in the half.

Leading tackler for the Texan defense so far is #43 LB Neville Hewitt. Who? Ex Dolphin, ex Jet. 6 years in the league. Went to Marshall.

So concludes today's episode of "Meet the Texans".....

--------------------------------------------------------------

Taylor sacked twice so far. Think it might be better to put him on the move - lose the pocket QB jazz...

----------------------------------------------------------------

Texans got the ball back but couldn't get the drive going. Taylor's pass is deflected incomplete on 3 and 4. Texans puntiing.

5:43 left in the half.

Dolphins fumble the punt and Texans recover! Turnover #3. Texans at the Dolphin 23.

Dolphins 7, Texans 6

-------------------------------------

Dang, 3 turnovers by the Dolphins and 6 pts by the Texans. Not very efficient....

Braindead turnover by Taylor. INT gives the Dolphins the ball deep in Texans territory.

--------------------------------

Brissett hits Hollins for the 5 yard TD pass.

Dolphins 17, Texans 6

29 seconds left in the half.

Taylor's 3rd INT gives the Dolphins good field position.

--------------------------------------------------

And the Dolphins give it right back. Deflected pass caught by Texans DL Maliek Collins. Texan's ball at their 44.

-------------------------------------------------

11:39 left in the 3rd qtr.

Turnovers: Texans 3, Dolphins 4

Penalties: Texans 8/60, Dolphins 1/8

--------------------------------------------------

After a Dolphin punt, the Texans takeover at their 7 yard line.

Still:

Dolphins 17, Texans 6

2:17 left in the 3rd qtr.

It’s brutal they make us watch this. Offer a different game or cut away when we’re inevitably blown out in the 3rd quarter. But there are 10 games going on and the Houston area is forced to watch this.

Once the team relocates to St Louis you can look forward to a better variety of games every Sunday.

The Crackwagon is getting shut out at home for the first time in 30 years. Oh, the schadenfreude being denied in Houston.

It’s worthless paying a ref as an ‘expert’ analyst. Pereira gets consulted and says it’s incomplete. Then they say catch/fumble and he explains why it’s a catch fumble. What a pointless consult and a giant waste of money to pay him for his non-opinion.
