Default Vrabel is interviewing with 49ers about DC job

Vrabel is one guy I do not want to leave, he is proving to be one of the best coaches the city has ever had. The chron.com is reporting that Chip Kelly is wanting to talk to him about the DC job.

I wish him luck and I hope he stays one more year.

There was talk of Vrabel eventually taking over for Crennel but who knows how long that would happen. Perhaps the Texans could offer Vrabel a little incentive to stay..

Under NFL rules the Texans didn't have to let the 49ers talk to him even though it would be a promotion, but O'Brien probably doesn't want to stand in the way of an opportunity for Vrabel to advance. O'Brien and Chip Kelly are old friends so O'Brien may have even recommended him.

I was thinking the same thing if they really don't want to lose him -- give him more money and maybe a new title (assistant/associate head coach, senior defensive assistant, etc.), and if Crennel (who turns 69 in June) has an idea of how much longer he wants to coach they could work out a succession plan for Vrabel to eventually take over as DC here.

Thank you football gods....

And some how we missed that Paul Pasqualoni has resigned, and the Texans hired Anthony Weaver. Not sure Weaver's Brown DL would inspire me to hire him.

So that makes me happier that we kept Vrabel

Good news. Probably is a sign that Vrabel is RAC's successor whenever Romeo decides it is time to retire.

The stability in the coaching of a unit performing so well ought to bode well for near term.

No, but see it's obviously a sign that Houston is just a superior, a cooler place to live than San Francisco.

Well, maybe not that extreme , but it does suggest that at least one member of the coaching staff likes what's going on here.... He could've bailed with a promotion and probably more money - but he didn't...

Sean Ryan named receivers coach, and Izzo and Weaver officially official.

OK then maybe a lower "cost of living" index.
