I agree with you on the positions of need and what I would like to add. However, I also have my draft board that is fluid based upon where/when players are being selected. I have some of my favorites and then 'fall-back' players in case I don't get my first guy early in the draft. I have consistently selected certain players over and over again (probably because I have them ranked too highly) such as Ryan Kelly, Joshua Garnett, Maliek Collins, Bronson Kaufusi, Malcolm Mitchell, and Keyarris Garrett. So, I'm twerking my board and ranking players lower than I grade them to see if I can still get them at a lower draft slot. This gives me better opportunities to trade down, get an extra pick or two, and still get My guys. I really like what happens in the mock drafts starting around picks #70 Rd3 Pick 7 all the way through pick #165 Rd5 Pick 26 and would like to get as many selections in this 'sweet spot' of the draft to get real value.

22: R1P22 OT JACK CONKLIN MICHIGAN ST.
52: R2P21 C RYAN KELLY ALABAMA
77: R3P14 WR STERLING SHEPARD OKLAHOMA
128: R4P30 DT JAVON HARGRAVE SOUTH CAROLINA ST.
159: R5P20 CB MAURICE CANADY VIRGINIA
195: R6P20 TE BEAU SANDLAND MONTANA ST.
205: R6P30 S K.J. DILLON WEST VIRGINIA

I declined a trade down opportunity to stay at #22 and select Conklin. Then was pleasantly surprised to see Kelly still available @ #52, so once again declined a trade down. I had expected to take the best WR available at #52 and got nervous that Sterling Shepard would not make it down to me, so I decided he was worth moving up for. Hargrove is one of the best NT prospects in this class in my opinion and I was very happy with my first 4 picks. I looked at Canady, Brandon Williams, Jonathan Jones and Anthony Brown as a CB and Tyvis Powell and KJ Dillon at S at #159. Having missed out on Vannett, Hooper, Henry, and Adams at TE, I grabbed Sandland and hope he develops.

CBS draft board last updated April 12th

22: R1P22 OT TAYLOR DECKER OHIO STATE
44: R2P13 WR JOSH DOCTSON TCU
119: R4P21 TE JERELL ADAMS SOUTH CAROLINA
159: R5P20 S SEAN DAVIS MARYLAND
166: R5P27 OLB JAMES COWSER SOUTHERN UTAH
195: R6P20 G JOE DAHL WASHINGTON STATE

TRADES

TRADE PARTNER:
OAKLAND RAIDERS

SENT:
ROUND: 2 PICK: 21
ROUND: 3 PICK: 22

RECEIVED:
ROUND: 2 PICK: 13

I grabbed a RT/LT backup at #22 in Taylor Decker. Then moved up to select a WR I believe is a 1st round talent in the 2nd round. Then selected the best TE still on the board in the 4th. Sean Davis is a bottom of the 2nd round talent to me and I had to take him in the 5th. Cowser was my BPA in the 5th and I can use him if Clowney gets hurt again. Dahl did not do much run blocking in college, but he impresses me with his athleticism and when I saw him play he held his own.

Default Arrowhead 4/15

48: R2P17 WR STERLING SHEPARD OKLAHOMA
52: R2P21 WR MICHAEL THOMAS OHIO STATE
82: R3P19 TE NICK VANNETT OHIO STATE
85: R3P22 DE BRONSON KAUFUSI BRIGHAM YOUNG
110: R4P12 DT MALIEK COLLINS NEBRASKA
116: R4P18 G CHRISTIAN WESTERMAN ARIZONA STATE
166: R5P27 TE JERELL ADAMS SOUTH CAROLINA
195: R6P20 RB JONATHAN WILLIAMS ARKANSAS

Traded out of the 1st round and selected 2 1st-Round Talented WRs in the 2nd round. Got My DL set with Kaufusi and Collins. Improved the TE group with Vannett and Adams. Westerman can play G and I would try him at C. Jonathan Williams is a big back that keeps Miller fresh and can be the short-yardage specialist keeping Watt on Defense.

Fanspeak board 4/12

There were several good choices at #22 so I looked to trade down and made a deal with Denver, moving to #31 and adding their 3rd rounder. Taylor Decker was still there at #31 so the gamble paid off. It paid off double when Vernon Butler was still there in the second round. My centers were disappearing so I reached for Boehm in the fourth yet was pleased that Killebrew was still available in the fifth:

31: R1P31 OT TAYLOR DECKER OHIO STATE
52: R2P21 DT VERNON BUTLER LOUISIANA TECH

I decided to follow suit and use the same board and make the same initial trade. The difference is Conklin and Decker were already off the board....Conklin was selected by Denver at #22 - The good news is, I got my favorite WR.

31: R1P31 WR JOSH DOCTSON TCU
57: R2P26 DE BRONSON KAUFUSI BRIGHAM YOUNG
85: R3P22 G JOSHUA GARNETT STANFORD

After trading down and getting my WR in the first, I traded down in the 2nd and still got my DE Kaufusi to replace Crick while getting an extra 4th round pick (C.J. Prosise). I traded 3/31 that I got from Denver in my first trade to Buffalo and turned it into NT Hargrave, TE Adams, QB Hogan. So essentially I traded Conklin for Doctson, Hargrave, Adams, and Hogan. My hardest decision was choosing who to pick first out of Westerman, Prosise, Adams, and Killebrew. Westerman was the only player I have given a 2nd round grade so I went with him to potentially play C. All the TEs were gone except for Adams and all the Ss were gone except for Killebrew and I needed a TE more than S. Potentially, I could have passed on Prosise and went after Kenyan Drake later, but I am a big fan of Prosise. Luckily, I was able to get all of them with my cluster of picks that I was able to collect in trades. I've mentioned my reasons for the top 4 guys that I constantly target. The only issue I have with this draft class is that I didn't get a T.

Couldn't get Conklin or Garnett after a trade-down, but still got Murphy and McGovern. Grabbed a TE (Hooper) and a NT (Collins). Very happy to get Kelly in the 2nd round, since I contemplated drafting him with my 1st round pick.

Fanspeak updated several boards and I made two trade-downs. Cheer up - you only have to endure this 10 more days.

27: R1P27 C RYAN KELLY ALABAMA
52: R2P21 DT CHRIS JONES MISSISSIPPI STATE
88: R3P25 TE NICK VANNETT OHIO STATE
99: R4P1 QB CHRISTIAN HACKENBERG PENN STATE

141: R5P2 RB C.J. PROSISE NOTRE DAME
159: R5P20 ILB JOSH FORREST KENTUCKY
166: R5P27 CB ERIC MURRAY MINNESOTA
195: R6P20 WR BRALON ADDISON OREGON

I was surprised Hackenberg fell all the way to the 4th round but that makes him a good value and less of a "threat" to Osweiler. I've been late to the Kaufusi bandwagon but he was another that was too good to pass up in the 4th. Getting another G, OT or SS will just have to wait but the Texans can add them in other ways.

I've been late to the Kaufusi bandwagon but he was another that was too good to pass up in the 4th.

I'm also late to the Kaufusi bandwagon....but now I'm a believer. I'm willing to spend a2nd round pick on this guy. I've been seeing him and DT Maliek Collins drafted later in the draft than I feel they are worth. Will be interesting to see where they are selected.

It's been a while since I posted, but this is honestly my favorite time to come here. I've been following this thread to see the draft trends and I have a couple guys I really like, but every time I draft on fanspeak, I feel there's a conspiracy that's keeps me from getting them. That and they've moved up quite a bit this month. The two players a REALLY like are Austin Johnson and Carl Nassib, both from Penn State, along with a shit ton of other very good players in this draft, but these two guys remind me a lot of Bronson Kaufusi and Maliek Collins.
That being said, I did a draft on FS using their board and this is what I came up with, with only two trades.

41: R2P10 WR JOSH DOCTSON TCU
52: R2P21 DT VERNON BUTLER LOUISIANA TECH
72: R3P9 DT ADOLPHUS WASHINGTON OHIO STATE
85: R3P22 C MAX TUERK USC
106: R4P8 G DENVER KIRKLAND ARKANSAS
119: R4P21 OLB JAYLON SMITH NOTRE DAME
127: R4P29 S MILES KILLEBREW SOUTHERN UTAH
159: R5P20 DT D.J. READER CLEMSON
166: R5P27 S JAYRON KEARSE CLEMSON
195: R6P20 WR AARON BURBRIDGE MICHIGAN STATE
231: R7P10 RB PEYTON BARBER AUBURN

TRADE PARTNER:
CHICAGO BEARS

SENT:
• ROUND: 1 PICK: 22

RECEIVED:
• ROUND: 2 PICK: 10
• ROUND: 3 PICK: 9
• ROUND: 4 PICK: 8
• ROUND: 4 PICK: 29

TRADE PARTNER:
MIAMI DOLPHINS

SENT:
• FUTURE ROUND 6 PICK

RECEIVED:
• ROUND: 7 PICK: 10

I honestly feel that since this is such a deep draft, it would be foolish not to trade down and grab as many picks as we can. I'm big on safties this year again, with that said I felt Kearse and Killebrew are too similar. Adolphus is my consolation prize if Nassib and Johnson are gone. Butler is a beast in the middle, but feel RJ Reader is not that bad of a replacement, why I got both I don't know, I don't usually do that. I also think BJ Goodson is a not very poor mans Reggie Ragland, just my 2 cents. I think Burbridge is a steal late in the draft! I like P. Barber late in the draft because I think we need a thumper for short/goal line yardage, as Blue simply proved too often he wasn't capable. Jaylon Smith in the 4th round was a no brainer to me.

I have to admit that I feel like Kaufusi and Nassib are the same type of players. I love Bronson more, but see Nassib being drafted higher. I have this problem with many players. I soured on Killebrew and Kearse after the 40 yard dash was run at the Combine. Yet, Killebrew came back on my radar after his pro day 3-Cone and Shuttle times. So Brew is back on my board. I like Vannett more than Henry and Hooper, but they are ranked higher due to the production in the passing game. Then there's Sandland and Breunacker who are impressive, but small school guys who may be later in the draft not to mention Jerrell Adams as a pass catcher. I like Kenneth Dixon more than Henry or Booker or Collins or Howard, but wonder if he lasts until the 3rd round. I love Maliek Collins and Vernon Hargraves, but they are ranked behind Chris Jones and Vernon Butler. I think Sterling Shepard is awesome and Malcolm Mitchell is a poor man's version who can be selected later. I liked Blake Martinez and Nick Vigil, but wonder if the Texans take a ILB. Plenty of conundrums to sort through.

Josh Doctson is the best WR in this draft. I'm worried about Reader's commitment to football. Adolphus Washington scares me as a bust that played well on a loaded defensive squad. I love Jaylon Smith as a person and a player, but don't know enough about his injury. I liked Burbridge but wonder if he translates to the NFL.

Jaylon Smith is out for 2016 and may not be able to resume his career at all if you listen to some. I wouldn't pick him earlier than the 5th.

Nassib is intriguing because his bio reminds me of J.J. Watt. Tall, swats passes and has not been a DE for very long. But he's still very raw and you can't be sure he'll refine his game. He's almost never available where I'm drafting. Austin Johnson projects as a true DT which is why I rate him slightly below Chris Jones for us. Jones I think can be an effective DE for a few years before he fills out and plays NT.

I'd love to get Reggie Ragland and phase out Cushing and his big salary but ILBs are going the way of fullbacks in this game so I'm leaning towards getting Conklin or Decker if they fall that far so we can phase out Duane Brown and his salary.

I feel Nassib and Kaufusi are knock-off versions of JJ Watt. Which is why I like them. JJ is obviously a one-of-a-kind player.

Austin Johnson has short arms. Which detracts me from his stock as well as slow agility scores.

The ILB position, if not filled with a Freak like Darron Lee, I feel could be addressed with a player like Nick Vigil, Blake Martinez, or Joshua Perry. Thinking outside the box, maybe Kamalei Correa.

If Conklin is there at #22, I would have a hard time passing on him.

I'd be okay with this. Most of these aren't the guy I want most at those positions but you hit every position of need and got value in most of them.

Good job!

Fanspeak finally updated the composite board (4/22) and my trading down got me in trouble but I used a bunch of third-day picks to fill in with depth if not star power:

22: R1P22 OT JACK CONKLIN MICHIGAN STATE
62: R2P31 S VONN BELL OHIO STATE

I got my desire in the first round, taking Jack Conklin but my trade down in the second blew up when the nine spot drop gobbled up everyone I was hoping to take at #31. The best guy left was SS Vonn Bell. Detroit offered a 4-for-1 trade down in the third that I couldn't say no too. It left me with 3 4ths, 4 5ths and 2 6ths. When I saw two good DT left to start the 5th round, I moved up to get one which turned out to be Ioannidis.

You'll notice I've taken Rashard Higgins several times for the WR. Part of it is the groupings of WR and he, like Austin Hooper, just shows up quite a bit where I want to pick his position. But Higgins is a receiver who is said to be not the fastest or the best pair of hands but he is fantastic at finding dead spots in coverage and getting open, much like Wayne Chrebet. He was very productive at CSU just because he was always getting open.

Aguayo is one of those PK who is so accurate that he gets bored with putting them through the uprights and practices banking them off the uprights. Most rookie PKs seem to have a jinx when they join the NFL (Randy Bullock, for example) but Aguayo is one of those I think is so above the rest that he won't have that problem and easily replace Nick Novak.

Does he know that it's OK to go ahead and kick it out of the end zone?

When he gets to Denver, we'll let you know.

62: R2P31 S VONN BELL OHIO STATE
111: R4P13 C MAX TUERK SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
119: R4P21 RB C.J. PROSISE NOTRE DAME

159: R5P20 ILB BLAKE MARTINEZ STANFORD
169: R5P30 K ROBERTO AGUAYO FLORIDA STATE
195: R6P20 TE JERRELL ADAMS SOUTH CAROLINA

Who were the players you wanted that were gobbled up in front of Vonn Bell?

I am pleased to see Conklin, Prosise, Ioannidis, Martinez, and Adams.

I was thinking about Higgins based upon his game film and his reception perception data. However the Combine measurables scared me away from believing that he translates to the NFL.
