Default Overreaction Mock Draft

If the standings and draft happened to fall this way, I'd trade up for Cook or Cardale. If that's not possible, I draft Ezekiel Elliott (or hope like hell Jaylon Smith falls) and then do whatever it takes to move back into the 1rst Rd and draft Hack. I know he has looked awful, but I still do it and hope OB can heal him. It's time for this team to make a bold move - even if it doesn't pan out.

Way too early for this. So many things can change.

Not knocking you, popa. I read it and I'm just saying we don't know the draft order (they have us 10th). We don't know who will declare for the draft. We don't know which players will get injured this year or regress as seniors.

It's not too early to start dreaming of a QB though.

Overreaction Mock Week2:

We've moved up the order and are drafting a QB now. Think I'd rather have Goff than Cook, but shoot, I'll take anything over what we have now. Just give me some hope.

Seems like all the first-rounders go to same 6 or 7 schools.

On QBs, early season games can be very misleading.

Connor Cook, the QB for Michigan state, is playing on espn tonight. I think there's a very good likelihood he's our 1st round selection next year.

You may be right but does he merit that high a selection?

It looks like Connor Cook is sliding down the draft boards for now and that Paxton Lynch of Memphis is the new sensation. CBS.com has the Texans taking him at #10, a draft position probably given before last night's game.

Lynch looked very good in the loss at UH. Tall, poised, plus arm, great touch, decent wheels. Looks like a solid prospect but, then, so did Tom Savage.

The latest (11/30) CBSSports.com mock has Paxton Lynch going #2 to Cleveland and Goff going #5 to San Francisco then Connor Cook of Michigan State lasting all the way to #22 where the Texans are currently drafting. Frankly, I don't think Cook will fall that far and the Texans will need to trade up if they are smitten. There are too many other teams with iffy QB situations to think the third-best QB will still be there if we are drafting that late.

Cook has also had a sore shoulder for the past month, something that needs serious examination before the Texans or anyone else takes his name to the podium.
