Default Final Fanspeak Trade Down Mock

Tampa Bay offered their 1st (#7), 2nd, 3rd and 5th for 1-1. We really don't need 14 picks so I then went about trading up. Send 4-1, 5-3 and 7-1 to Philadelphia for 3-22 then Minnesota offered 2-8 and 3-32 for 2-1 so I wound up with six selections the second day and used that to build the offense around my new QB.

1-7 (from TAM): Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Louisville
2-6 (from TAM): Jace Amaro, TE, Texas Tech
2-8 (from MIN): Joel Bitonio, T-G, Nevada (projecting him at G)
3-1: Tre Mason, RB, Auburn
3-5 (from TAM): Shayne Skov, ILB, Stanford
3-22 (from PHI): James Hurst, OT, North Carolina (projects to RT)
3-32 (from SEA via MIN): DeMarcus Lawrence, DE-OLB, Boise St.
4-35 (comp): Kelcy Quarles, DT, South Carolina
5-1: Walt Aikens, CB, Liberty (talented corner with red flags)
6-1: Bennett Jackson, CB, Notre Dame
6-5: (from OAK): Tevin Reese, WR, Baylor (pure speed guy, kick returner?)
6-35 (comp): Ryan Carrethers, DT, Arkansas St
7-41 (comp): Carrington Byndom, CB, Texas

So, the first two days were about building a new offense around Bridgewater and the third day was about getting players to upgrade the defense.

I could live with this. Getting Mason makes this draft as he and Clowney are difference makers. Lee could also be really good. I think McCarron will be a good caretaker but not a star.

This I like even better although Marcus Roberson (not Robinson) ought to be grabbed in the fourth and Urschel will probably still be there in the 6th. The only reason Urschel could be drafted by us is that he's a Penn Stater who blossomed under O'Brien. He's another Kasey Studdard. Not a guy who is drafted on talent but a "coach's favorite" type. Urschel could easily be a UDFA.

Default 2014 Mock Draft

The way I see it going down:

1. Texans- J. Clowney.

2. Rams- Greg Robinson. (although I think the Rams will select him a a few spots below after trading out of this pick)

3. Jags- Mike Evans. First surprise of the Draft They get their own AJ.

4. Browns- Sammy Watkins. New GM Farmer is going with the BPA.

5. Raiders- Derek Carr. Gets to sit a year and learn the game, unlike his brother.

6. Falcons- Khalil Mack. They get the best pass rusher on the board.

7. Bucs- Johnny Manziel. Another shocker but makes perfect sense. Lovie doesn't have to insert him in the line up right away with McCown recently signed. Mike Glennon is officially on his way out.

8. Blake Bortles. Norv Turner is elated to see him still there and takes his Fav QB of the entire draft.

9. Bills. Jake Mathews. He's arguably the best OT in this years draft.

10. Lions- Anthony Barr. The top rated DE available.

11. Titans- Justin Gilbert. They lost A. Verner in FA.

12. Giants- Taylor Lewan. Their OL needs some major help.

13. Rams- Bradley Roby. This was a tough one but it's either him or Dennard here.

14. Bears- Aaron Donald. Worst run defense EVER.

15. Steelers- Darqueze Dennard. They need CB help like fewbothers do.

16. Cowboys- Ha Ha Clinton-Dix. They play it safe this year and take BPA.

17. Ravens- Eric Ebron. Who's their OC??

18. Jets- Kyle Fuller. Same as Steelers...

19. Dolphins- Zack Martin. Enough said.

20. Cardinals- Bradley Roby. The two safety spots are good, but need CB help.

21. Packers- Ryan Shazier. They need LB help.

22. Eagles- Odell Beckham. Desean Jackson's replacement. Beckham in Chip Kelly's offense is scary.

23. Chiefs- Calvin Pryor. The thought of teaming him up with Eric Berry is too good to pass up.

24. Bengals- Jason Verrett. They need help at CB and he's BPA.

25. Chargers- Louis Nix. It's him or Jernigan, but Nix gets the nod here due to Jernigan's recent failing drug test.

26. Browns- CJ Mosley. They need help at ILB are are thrilled he's still available.

27. Saints- Dee Ford. Pass rushers are a top priority.

28. Panthers- Marquis Lee. Who exactly is Cam gonna throw to this year??

29. Patriots- Timmy Jernigan. Wilfork injury was serious and is not 100% yet. B. Belicheck will have Timmy in check in New England.

30. 49ers- Kony Ealy. Quality depth needed with aging players and crazy players.

31. Broncos- Xavier Su'a-Filo. Z.Beadles replacement.

32. Seahawks- Jace Amaro. Another offensive threat added with the loss of Tate. Miller is barely an average TE.

Ok. Let me have it.

No. A lot of those picks make sense. Won't happen that way but it almost never does.
