Default Astros 2015

This has been an entertaining season of Astros baseball, the best in a decade. Because of the influx of youth and a unique offensive combo of power and speed, this is quite a compelling team that is easy to root for in spite of its flaws.

The season hit the accelerator on Thursday as the team dealt for hometown lefty Scott Kazmir and saw its all star Jose Altuve hit a walkoff home run to sweep the series against the Red Sox. It's coming on the heels of a hotly contested, well attended series against their burgeoning divisional rivals, the Texas Rangers, too. Astros baseball is fun once again.

Could be quite a chase to the playoffs...

Yep. They've been playing .500 ball for about 2 1/2 months but thanks to the fast start, they're still in it. 5-1 since the All-star break helps.

Big 3-game series against the Angels coming up next week and the middle game (Wed, July 29) will be televised on ESPN (for those of us that don't get ROOT).

Correa could be really something - comparisons to a young A-Rod. Carter needs to get going - it's his time of year... Singleton continues to struggle at the big league level. Springer should be coming back in a few weeks....

Playoffs!

Wild Card game is Tuesday night at 7pm on ESPN. With Dallas Keuchel expected to start against the slumping Yankees, their chances to make it to KC for the ALDS seem pretty decent.

Yep, the Astros are a slight favorite to beat the Yanks in Yankeeville. -115 right now....

Keuchel, I think, was 5-8 on the road this year so, not great but he's their best shot.... Also, might help his Cy Young votes if he beats the Yankees...

The Texans' ratings this Thursday are going to suck.

The Astros beat KC 4-2 in their season series. I think McHugh will be the key. If he wins the two games he will likely start, the Astros can pull this off. Keuchel will probably win Sunday's game at home.

I didn't think about that but you're right..... Hello, PIP (picture-in-picture)....

Also, seems I was wrong about the Cy Young voting as it has already taken place... Price and Keuchel are too close to call - depends on the voters (BBWAA)... winner will be announced in November...
