Default Official Texans vs. Rams Fake Game Thread, 8/29/2019

The LA Rams come to town for the final preseason game at Reliant. Last chance for some of the bubble players to make an impression.

Who do you keep at running back? Sarah Barshop thinks it will be just four:

Quote:
RUNNING BACK (4): Duke Johnson, Damarea Crockett, Taiwan Jones, Cullen Gillaspia (fullback)

This could change soon if the Texans sign or trade for a veteran running back after Lamar Miller tore his left ACL in Houston’s third preseason game. In this group, only Johnson and Jones have played in an NFL game. Jones and Gillaspia would contribute mostly on special teams.
Game = Rams @ Texans, 7 pm, 8/29/2019

TV = ABC13

Streaming the game live. Watt is a scratch. Since the tv program is promoting Joe Webb, I presume Watson will not be playing either.

Texans obviously trying not to peak too soon, particularly in the offensive line.

Webb scrambles for 32 yards on 4th-and-6 then hits Jerrell Adams for a TD. 7-0 Texans on opening drive. Rankin and 4 nobodies on the OL. Higdon made some nice plays earlier in the drive.

(ps - not taking you job, Arky. Just adding my observations.)

Rams 3-and-out. L.A. not playing their starters either. Penalty on the punt marches Houston back. Apparently, both teams have been stung by rule changes in the kick coverage already.

62-Sprinkle. Pack your bags, son. Jumped the snap on two straight plays to give the Rams 10 freebies. Rams put in new QB who shows he can pass. Tied up at 7-7.

Some future trash hauler let Webb's third down pass zip right through his hands. Texans punt again. End of the first quarter.

Poor pass by LA QB leads to tipped interception. Texans say "thank you" with a 24-yard loss on first down then some checkdowns and another punt.

I'm beginning to think the AAF was better football than NFL pre-seasons if you're only going to play your 3s and 4s.

Penalty on T Adams for pass interference. Ball placed at the 1.

Justin Davis rushes for the 1 yard. 2 pt conversion good.

Rams 15, Texans 10

Why was Ta'amu not recruited by Texas A&M? Wouldn't that have been a natural?

Final Score:

Rams 22, Texans 10

----------------------------------------

Next up, the Saints in New Orleans on MNF.... The Texans have done an excellent job of me not getting my hopes up for a W.

Hard to buy this team as any better than 8-8 this year but consider too that they have six games against the Colts, Titans and Jaguars then have the potluck NFC South for four games. We've got Watson and D-Hop but not much else.

Welp, the guys that aren’t going to make the Rams are clearly better than the guys who aren’t going to make the Texans.

8-8 could be enough to win this division which comes with a home game in the playoffs.
