Default Official Texans @ Jaguars Game Thread, 11/8/2020

The 1-6 Houston Texans head to Jacksonville, FL to take on the 1-6 Jaguars this Sunday in an early game on CBS. Both teams are coming off their bye week. QB Gardner Minshew II has a thumb injury and will be sidelined. HC Doug Marrone has decided to take a look at 6th rd draft pick QB Jake Luton (Ore. St.) instead of going with backup Mike Glennon. The Texan defense is not very good against the run and can expect to see a lot of Jags RB James Robinson. The Texan offense has been inconsistent to say the least. It would be nice to see them put a full game game together and minimize the errors.....

The Texans have an excellent opportunity to get win #2 here if the defense doesn't blow it. I've got it:

Texans 28, Jags 17

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

TV = CBS (channel 11 local), noon CST, Sunday, 11/8/2020

Announcers = Spero Dedes, Adam Archuleta

The line = Texans by 6½ to 7

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Other Sunday viewing in the Houston area:

CBS (late) = Pittsburgh @ Dallas, Jim Nantz, Tony Romo (surprising how much of the country gets this stinker)

FOX (late) = Las Vegas @ LA Chargers, Adam Amin, Mark Schlereth

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Prime time:

TNF = Green Bay @ San Francisco (FOX/NFLN)

SNF = New Orleans @ Tampa Bay (NBC)

MNF = New England @ NY Jets (ESPN)

Two teams with massive fan bases. Miami/Arizona may be a better matchup but they're not even close to the two fan bases. Just maybe the Squealers will have a massive letdown after their semi-annual Crips vs Bloods street war against the Ratbirds.

Maybe. You are correct, good fan bases/followings. I'm thinking it's going to be 3 hours of the Steelers toying with the Cowboys and pretty dull. I'll probably be tuned into LV vs. LAC on FOX...

Do you remember the Nielsen ratings, the TV viewer rating service? Back in the '90s, I had a Nielsen rep knock on my door one day and ask me to participate in the Nielsen ratings. I said OK cause there were perks involved. They came and installed an extra box on my TV along with the cable box. I was a family of one but I was a Nielsen family for about a year or so.

I'm guessing with all the smart TV's nowadays, they are no longer needed. Probably Nielsen, the NSA, AT&T, Google, Amazon, Facebook, etc. know everthing you watch, eheh... Not a real comforting thought....

Not to mention the FBI, CIA, DOJ, EPA, China, Russia, Microsoft, the EU, the New World Order, the Bildebergers, the Freemasons, InfoWars, Skull and Bones and Al Qaeda.

I was in the communications industry much of my adulthood and thus ineligible for the Nielsens.

Not sure who said it but one favorite quote of mine says "Television is called a medium because it's rare when it's well done."

Meanwhile, J.J. Watt is sounding indifferent on whether he finishes his career as a Texan. Says he thinks he has some good years left in him.

Thanks to a very long PI against the Jags, the Texans get a David Johnson 1 yard run for a TD as time runs out in the half.

Texans 20, Jags 13

Bad special teams coverage by the Texans leads to a Lambeau 59 yard FG for the Jags.

Texans 20, Jags 16

Halftime.

Need to Darryl Morey this offense. All passes, no runs (unless Watson tucks and goes).

Scarlett out now. No idea where a pass rush comes from without a blitz every down.

Roby out but challenges McClain as to why on Twitter. Hmm.

Well, at least there's ONE team in the NFL the Texans can beat. Maybe the Jets could be the other.

Seems the offense is the two-steps-and-run-for-your-life attack.

At least the Texans can promote themselves as being Luton-free.This game would have mattered if we had our own draft picks.

Early line has the Browns as a 2½ pt favorite over the Texans in Cleveland next Sunday. Seems a little low especially with the Browns rested up and coming off their bye week....

Their quarterback has covid.

I mean, he's obviously faking the whole thing after receiving a handsome payment from George Soros, but I think the point is he may not play.

Which now that I reflect on it makes me wonder why bookmakers think that disadvantages the Browns.
