Hey, Keith. Do you think the blog on the front page needs an update?

Hahaha... totally.

Anyone want to write something for the front page?

keith (at) inthebullseye (dot) com

I have been lax on writing lately since so much of my free time is spent managing youth baseball.

Thanks to Bob once again for keeping the front page fresh around here.

I fear the cap page may not make a return. Salary data is harder than ever to obtain for regular joe's like me nowadays. And if you think you can just trust whatever contract terms the media reports, then you are fooling yourself. The good news is that over the years the official bulk-reported cap #s the media has shared (from sites like ESPN and PFT) have been as accurate as ever.

I miss the old HPF articles as well, but I don't miss the time suck. On a personal level, it's neat to look back. I still have them all, and I'm guessing internet wayback machines are still available for anyone interested in a trip down memory lane.

Blogs back in the day were but a twinkle in the interweb's eye, and the e-landscape has changed considerably in the more than 12 years or so since HPF really got going when there really were not many other places for Texans fans to congregate. When I picked up the site editing, I would often take 4+ hours to write a new article, then edit for the web, then find a photo, then upload... very time consuming, and our model both then and now is a 20th century dinosaur compared to the blogging sites popular today. I know we can update this format to be more current, but honestly, I resisted and am quite happy with the status quo.
