And as you state, if you (or the Texans) are the only team ranking him that high, who are you missing out on? I am torn also. One thing I do know right now, I am not on the Hackenberg in the 2nd round bandwagon. If he falls far enough maybe, but the young man has showed very little the last two years. And I am tired of seeing mocks with him in the 2nd and Ezekiel Elliott in the 1st. I notice you don't have Ezekiel Elliott on your list, what are your misgivings with him?

I'm probably going to rank Dak Prescott high enough to select in the 2nd round. The problem is that I really want to take Kenneth Dixon too. I'm not sure that I can have both. I don't like the idea of drafting a RB in the 1st round unless his name is Adrian Peterson. I got burned on Melvin Gordon last year. The only reason I'm willing to spend a 2nd round pick on Dixon is because he has the size and speed to be an every-down back and he can catch passes out of the backfield. If I don't get him, I'll need to draft 2 RBs to replace Arian Foster. Maybe Aaron Green and Jonathan Williams. I don't have Elliott or Henry on my list because I feel like they are overweight and overvalued. Coming from those offenses behind those Offensive Lines, they had huge holes to run through. Hard to scout the vision and shiftiness of a RB who has 4 yards before a defender is close to tackle him.
I say this every year it seems, but if I could trade down and pick up another 3rd and 4th round pick I would be very happy.

My problem is in knowing this is a deep defensive draft and we are needing to go offense. The deepest are is DL especially 1st round DL. There are NT and DE types that would help the defense out.

The other thought I have is forgetting about my pipe dream of an "athletic QB" and wait for Kevin Hogan who would be a great fit for this system and they could potentially get him with a 4th or even 5th round pick.

I may have found a Sleeper OG. Ted Karras of Illinois. Not sure if he will be at the Combine, but I need to do a little more analysis on him.

He is graded by NFL.com with a score of 5.1. Which places him right at the 30th best OL guy in the draft. Which has him in the mid to late part of the draft.

Going to have to add ILB Nick Vigil to my draft board. Just. Took him with my last pick in a mock draft.

The board is fluid. As I am watching the Combine, I was impressed with the RBs...Henry, Elliott, Prosise, Lasco. The OL Conklin, Spriggs, Kelly, Westerman, Dahl, and McGovern gave me hope. I was disappointed by Dixon (wish he was faster) and Booker (wish he would have been able to run) and Decker (looked stiff). I have decided to be all in with Dak Prescott and have Lynch as my fall back guy. The board will change again the next few days once I can analyze all the data. Then even more as I continue to mock and see what I can expect on draft day.

Also Elliot was faster than i was expecting, but his pass catching skills sucked. He is not going to be a Foster clone, but he can block and run with the best of them. Dixon's time was respectable and faster than Arian Fosters forty (4.68) in his combine. And his hands are natural, he looked very fluid with the ball in the air. Now Dixon did look stiff in the hips. Also I was impressed by Henry, he was not fighting the ball like Elliot in the pass catching drills. For a huge man, he looked very good.

My hope is that we trade down and pick Prescott in the 1st round.
Henry was explosive for his size. Elliott not being a very good receiver concerns me. Dixon was good but less than I expected. Prosise reminds me of David Johnson. If we trade down and gain additional picks, I would love to get Westerman and plug him in at OC and maybe Joe Dahl to play RG if we don't sign our FAs.

I'm thinking that a team might be willing to trade for Lawson or Calhoun....perhaps a RB or OT too.

We won't cut Foster because of his salary...we will cut him because of his inability to stay healthy. It's not a lie by Rick Smith, it's semantics. The GM wants to have a"poker face" considering the owner has told the world that we are getting a QB.
