Default Official Texans vs. Packers Game Thread, 10/25/2020

The 4-1 Green Bay Packers come to NRG this Sunday to take on the 1-5 Texans in an early game on FOX. The Texans are coming of a 42-36 road loss to the Titans, the Packers are coming off their first loss, 38-10 to the Buccaneers on the road. In addition to QB Aaron Rogers, look for RB Aaron Jones and receivers Davante Adams and Allen Lazard. TE Robert Tonyan has 5 TDs. The Texans defense needs to find an identity and fast.

The Texans are 1-3 all time vs. the Packers. The two last met in December 2016 with the Pack winning 21-13 in Green Bay.

Aaron Rogers and the Packers are a team that is unlikely to lose two in a row. I've got it:

Packers 35, Texans 26

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

TV = FOX (channel 26 local), noon CST, Sunday, 10/25/2020

Announcers = Kenny Albert, Jonathan Vilma

The line = Packers by 3½

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Other Sunday viewing in the Houston area:

CBS (early) = Pittsburgh @ Tennessee, Ian Eagle, Charles Davis

CBS (late) = Kansas City @ Denver, Kevin Harlan, Trent Green

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Prime time:

TNF = NY Giants @ Philadelphia (FOX/NFLN)

SNF = Tampa Bay @ Las Vegas (NBC)

MNF = Chicago @ LA Rams (ESPN)

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

Texans will be on their bye week following this game.

Packers take the opening kickoff and drive right on down the field thanks to some Texan penalties. Rogers hits Adams for the 3 yard TD pass.

Fairbairn misses a 41-yard FG and the Packers have 2+ minutes left in the half.

Still 14-0 Packers.

It’s pretty hilarious how terrible the Texans are at virtually every aspect of playing football.

I wonder what the season ticket waiting list looks like these days.

Where is Watson going on that sack? He has a pocket but he just drifts backwards into the sack. Duke Johnson blocks the guy ok enough and pushes him 15 yards upfield to a place where the QB should never be.

Watson has gotten so much worse in the past 12 months. He's clearly a guy with zero trust in the offense who often prefers waiting for the play to break down on purpose. If he plays out his contract here, he'll have no value by the end of it.

Packers kneeling it out.

Final score:

Plenty of poor play to go round for both offense and defense.....

I realize this is just a crazy idea and probably isn't practical but what might happen some week if Deshaun Watson wasn't 14-points or more before the offense starts to click? Maybe if they didn't have to play catch up from way behind every week, they might - just might- stand a better chance of winning.

Meanwhile, the Dolphins win even during their bye week.

Watson is just a slow starter for nearly every Sunday noon game. I'd love to know why. What is he doing Saturday nights?

He was mostly terrible on Thursday night to open the season. His problem is poor play, not start times.

This was one of the ugliest loses I've ever seen. Our guards absolutely suck, can't wait for Devlin to be gone. Maybe he is a good coach, and the talent sucks. Don't know.

Most likely needs it's a new thread, but who would you guys like to see as the next head coach? my top candidate is Robert Saleh Defensive Coordinator for the 49ers. Man sounds like he gets it. And maybe he can bring in DeMeco Ryans and Johnny Holland for the defensive coaches. And Wes Welker as an offensive coach. Just to name a few names tied to the Houston area.

I think at this point it's safe to conclude that he's average at best. He definitely hasn't shown the ability to get more out of less.

Speaking of guards, what happened to Scharping? Last year there was talk that he could be better than Howard. This year he has gone from starter, to rotating for two games, to playing zero offensive snaps the last four games.

They played an interview with Devlin yesterday on the radio, Devlin brought up the covid and lack of growth. He thought he was making Scharping look bad, but what it showed was how bad he was as a coach. This staff has BOB's attutude towards young players. Instead of I have to get them up to speed, its they cant be able to play in the league until they have been here a while.

Sad, and stupid attitude.
