Default Official Texans vs. Seahawks Game Thread, 12/12/2021

The 4-8 Seattle Seahawks come to NRG this Sunday to take on the 2-10 Texans. The Seahawks are coming off a 30-23 home win over the 49ers, the Texans are coming off a 31-0 home loss to the Colts.

The Texans are 1-3 all time versus the Seahawks. The last two meetings (2013, 2017) were won by the Seahawks - 3 pt wins both times.

Seahawks QB Russell Wilson has been plagued with injury this year but still has pretty good stats - 67.2% completion, 2042 yards, 241.7 yds/game, 14 TDs, 4 INTs, 102.5 rating. Geno Smith is his backup if needed. Leading rusher for the Seahawks is RB Alex Collins - 395 yards, 3.9 avg. Top two receivers are Tyler Lockett (881 yds, 15.5 avg) and DK Metcalf (710 yds, 13.7 avg.).

The Texan defense will have to show up for 60 minutes if the Texans want to be competitive in this game. Likewise, the Texan offense needs to show a pulse - they are last in the league in many categories. Tough one to call here but I'm going to side with the Texans simply because it is tough to put stinker after stinker together in the NFL. If they fail, it might be the last time I pick them to cover this year.

Seahawks 24, Texans 20

We can only hope that Mills plays the kind of game today he did vs New England earlier in the season.
Thing is I don't think he's got the same Oline he had then (no Tunsil & no Britt), and I think Ingram was still with us and running hard as he had all year while playing for the Texans.
Well we shall see ?

Texans receive the opening kick off and are moving down the field. Big plus they got into Seahawk territory.

Now at the Seahawk 5 yard line. Maybe they came to play today.... Mills 4/4.

Mills finds Jordan in the end zone for the 5 yard TD.

Texans 7, Seahawks 0

11:02 left in the 1st qtr.

Texans' 2nd drive stalls but a nice punt has the Seahawks inside their 5.

3:03 left in the 1st qtr.

-----------------------------------------------

Seahawks get out of the hole and take it all way. Penny gets the last 32 yards on a run for the TD.

Seahawks 10, Texans 7

End of the 1st qtr. Penalty free for both teams.

Texans get the ball and move down the field but a penalty halts the drive.

Fairbairn good on the FG but a roughing the snapper penalty on the Seahawks gives the Texans a 1st down at the Seahawk 16. Still driving.

Mills hits Cooks on the slant - goes to the 1 yard line.

Illegal formation on the Texans backs it up 5.

----------------------------

Texans can't get 'er done. Fairbairn good from 21.

Texans 10, Seahawks 10

6:05 left in the half.

So. The Texan defense steps up with a stop on the Seahawks 2nd half opening drive. Seahawks have to punt.

-------------------------------------------------

Ugh, Grugier-Hill being carted off. That hurts. Glad we haven't gotten rid of any good LB's lately....

-------------------------------------------------

Texans drive stalls. They gone back to dink & dunk. Have to punt.

Still 16-13 Seahawks with 9:31 left in the 3rd qtr.

My Raiders pick is crapping the bed. Losing 38-9. 3 turnovers by the Raiders, none for the Chiefs. Atlanta and Cleveland doing alright.

-----------------------------------------------------

Texans have a 1st and 10 at their 40 as the 3rd quarter ends.

Call on the field stands. Touchdown.

Seahawks good on the 2 pt conversion to Lockett.

Seahawks 27, Texans 13

Texans now at the Seahawk 37 as play is stopped for the injured Seahawk. 59 seconds left.

Texans run out of time.

Final score:
