Okay, well, I kept telling myself that I was not going to respond to whatever was posted after my last post but you sound somewhat contrite so here goes:
1. The thing about bashing Walter's take was you posted your thoughts after the game was over. You were not incorrect, btw, about his being wrong or following the wrong path but it would have carried more weight had it been done before the game had started. As someone who starts handicapping college and pros on Friday night, all night, into Saturday, all day, all night, up till Sunday at noon with little sleep and continuously watching football, I felt the need to defend him. It's too easy to throw stones after the battle is over. I believe we actually agreed that the Texans would win, so there's that. 2. Then we derailed to Minshew. You think he's terrible, I don't think he's chopped liver. Fine, let's leave it at that. You're fine. A good debate can be educational and stimulating. Just tone it down a bit, eh? |

Barrett, I have noticed your efforts to be more agreeable than in the past and it is appreciated.

But to my credit/shame I was bashing Walter on page 1 of this thread long before the game. And I don't know which one of us is right about Minshew, but I hope it's me since he plays for the Jags. Honestly I think he's a good 6th round find, but I just think QBs are evaluated far too much on wins and not enough on how they play. If a DB gets toasted in a 52-49 game nobody calls him a winner, but a QB that wins 13-12 is a gamer with moxie. I also think QBs are sold by the media as stories. So a QB who's personable becomes a media creation out of line with his performance. Same thing happened with Mayfield (who I love). Meanwhile Kyle Allen has been better while keeping his head down and barely a word is uttered. I honestly think if Allen and Minshew traded facial hair and back stories Allen would have the coverage Minshew has. |

FWIW, Jags have decided to bench Minshew and start Foles next week. Frankly, this was an easy call. Love or hate Minshew, the Jags spent a ton of money bringing Foles to Jackwagonville. There's no possible way they are going to ask Foles to ride the pines for some pop hero.
I noticed Minshew back in the preseason playing very well but he's been a mixed bag during the regular season. The Jags need to find out if the offense will be better under Foles during the rest of the season. Despite being 4-5, as I've noted elsewhere, they aren't close to elimination for a playoff berth if they catch fire. |
