Traded up for Derrick Henry and Nick Vannett. Then got back into the 7th round for Keyarris since I hadn't gotten a WR. I'd be just fine with this draft and feel like my board is starting to solidify.

Using the Draftek board and only one trade down, I was able to draft a board I'd be thrilled to have although several of these I expect to be selected earlier than where I have them. Realistic? Jared Goff wasn't taken til the second round. That's how realistic this was. Still, we never know how these things unfold.

24: R1P24 OT TAYLOR DECKER OHIO ST
52: R2P21 C RYAN KELLY ALABAMA
85: R3P22 DT CHRIS JONES MISSISSIPPI ST
87: R3P24 TE AUSTIN HOOPER STANFORD
119: R4P21 S MILES KILLEBREW SOUTHERN UTAH
159: R5P20 RB C.J. PROSISE NOTRE DAME
166: R5P27 ILB JARED NORRIS UTAH
195: R6P20 WR KEYARRIS GARRETT TULSA

TRADE PARTNER:
CINCINNATI BENGALS
SENT:
ROUND: 1 PICK: 22
RECEIVED:
ROUND: 1 PICK: 24
ROUND: 3 PICK: 24

Decker can back up for a year but, eventually, replace Duane Brown. Kelly will anchor the center position for the next 10 years. Jones is a DT who is flexible enough to be a 3-4 DE. Hooper is the second-best TE according to most boards. Killebrew is a strong safety who hits like a LB. Prosise is not my ideal back but he only has to fit behind Miller and Blue. Norris a good ILB and Garrett a value addition as others here have pointed out. Only eight picks feels rather limiting after getting all these trade-down drafts but I like what this group brings to table. I have my doubts Kelly reaches #52 and I can see all the others being drafted higher than they are here but not outrageously so.

As a Colts fan I hope Indy selects Ryan Kelly, but I hope that they don't trade their 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th round picks to do so. I also hope that they would select Jack Conklin at #18 and not Cody Whitehair. But that's another discussion.

I attempted to see how many trade downs I could do and feel comfortable about doing it. This is pretty much my max and believe it or not, I did decline a few trade scenarios. I kind of cheated seeing the "BPA" list on the side of the screen so I knew that I could attempt to take a guy later that I have ranked highest. I.E. I drafted Sterling Shepard and Josh Garnett because they were getting close on the list and I was able to wait on my personal BPA at the time Kaufusi. I did the same when I selected Jerrell Adams over Malcolm Mitchell. If I had been smart, I might have attempted to trade back up for players like Maliek Collins (#79) and Nick Vannett (#94). Correa was my BPA at #122. I took Haeg to complete my O-Line of Kelly, Garnett, and Haeg. I love Promise as my 3rd down back and because I had so many picks I took a flyer on Jonathan Williams. I always seem to take Keyarris and Hogan was my backup QB selection. Having extra picks I selected a pass-rush specialist in Dadi Nicolas. I have a H-Back in Dan Vitale. Then just to have a QB on the practice squad I grabbed Kessler.

Fanspeak 4/12 board

I didn't get any good trade-down opportunities in the first and second but took one in the third that netted two fourths and a sixth. Therefore, the draft is full of role players and not sexy:

22: R1P22 OT JACK CONKLIN MICHIGAN STATE
52: R2P21 C NICK MARTIN NOTRE DAME
104: R4P6 TE TYLER HIGBEE WESTERN KENTUCKY
119: R4P21 DT MATT IOANNIDIS TEMPLE
130: R4P32 WR RASHARD HIGGINS COLORADO STATE
159: R5P20 ILB BENIQUEZ BROWN MISSISSIPPI STATE
166: R5P27 CB ERIC MURRAY MINNESOTA
182: R6P7 RB KENYAN DRAKE ALABAMA
195: R6P20 WR KEYARRIS GARRETT TULSA

After the big trade and a new 4/19 NFL.com big board to play with, I took a small trade down and got a decent, not great, draft:

85: R3P22 S MILES KILLEBREW SOUTHERN UTAH
88: R3P25 TE AUSTIN HOOPER STANFORD
119: R4P21 G LANDON TURNER NORTH CAROLINA
159: R5P20 CB JONATHAN JONES AUBURN
166: R5P27 ILB JOSHUA PERRY OHIO ST.
195: R6P20 WR KEYARRIS GARRETT TULSA

TRADE PARTNER:
GREEN BAY PACKERS
SENT:
ROUND: 1 PICK: 22
RECEIVED:
ROUND: 1 PICK: 27
ROUND: 3 PICK: 25
