Mulling the idea posed by ESPN Insider that the Texans should keep 1-1 and draft Clowney but then trade their 2-1 and 3-1 to Kansas City for their 1st and 4th picks. The purpose is to be in position to take a QB at #23 in the first round, ahead of Cleveland's second pick. The thought being that one of Bortles, Manziel or Bridgewater will surely be there and, if not, they can always trade back into the second.
The downside of this idea that the Texans would be sitting out the next two rounds entirely when they still need to rebuild their offensive line and front seven on defense. Nevertheless, I tried it with the Mock Draft Simulator and Ourlad's big board which, indeed, got me Clowney and Bortles and there was still Juwaun Jones sitting there at 4-1 to be the RT. I could still fill other needs with guys I wasn't thrilled about but was able to get it done. Overall, I think I'd rather trade down with the Falcons and fill needs with 2nds and 3rds. I find myself warming up to the idea of Derek Carr as a decent fallback option if the top 3 QBS are all gone by 2-1. |

So I haven't worked out or interviewed any of these QB.
Therefore I don't like idea of trading up to get one of them. Heckl. If Bill O says ok then I'm ok with it. But if don't take a QB till rd 4 ok with that too. I'm not panicked on QB now and likely whoever take whenever will take a while to get them ready . |
